Spoilers Rainn Wilson joins cast, as.....

"That unprincipled, evil-minded, lecherous, kulak, Harry Mudd?"

I am SO excited by excited by this news! Love Mudd and Rainn Wilson!

Although I never watched The Office on a regular basis, I am somewhat familiar with Wilson's character, having looked into him primarily because someone I know in RL claimed I reminded them of him. A good actor, though not who I would have thought of as Harry Mudd.

Although, what is interesting, Wilson is older than Roger Carmel was. People usually tend to think Carmel was older than he really was when he did TOS.

7 posts and zero negative comments so far?!? We're slacking, people!

Ugh, this is terrible, I'm so upset, because... I shouldn't have to pay CBS and... too much continuity? Or not enough, because Prime timeline? Something!

EDIT: or there were no negative comments before this... before a thread merge put some there. Can't the mods prioritize preserving my punchlines when they do that? :)

Great choice.

Stop sucking up to the original series for goodness sake. I hate the fact that Mudd is now going to be in Discovery.

Two characters and when the damn show is set is sucking up, in my opinion. This feels like unnecessary and somewhat hypocritical casting.

Also, hypocritical? That must be some new definition of the word I'm not aware of.

It's picked up by Deadline and Variety. If it's a gag, it's an all advised one... you look like a total jackass to your industry if you let yourself be used in a fake casting announcement as an April Fools joke.

I don't have much recollection of the Mudd episodes -- I only recently started to develop an appreciation for TOS as it's own thing, I used to only watch it as interesting backstory for TNG/DS9. I'll be curious to revisit those episodes now.

And those sites have never been used (willingly or not) in April Fools jokes? I find that hard to believe.

As for this: I see no reason to believe it until April 2nd has come.
