Does anyone shop there?
I got a 25 dollar giftcard for there.
What should I get.
I mean, any suggestions. I recently purchased a netbook... any accessories that you'd reccomend even if it's more than my gift car? What about stuff for a TV or DVD player?

Thanks

^Yeah. Give it back and ask for a damn Best Buy gift card.

Radio Shack never should have done away with the Optimus speakers. Those were much better than Infinity, Bose, and many of the other overpriced speakers out there. Also, RS doesn't stock much in the way of electronics anymore, which really sucks. The company now is more along the lines of a mini Best Buy.

Hmmm the article would indicate that Day is merely yet another dweeb salesman that provides the aforementioned vacant stares when someone like me asks:

"Do you have any LM7404 Hex Inverters?"

Personally I await the day when the salesdweeb thinks I'm talking Harry Potter. LOL

Back on topic though. To effectively use your gift card, cruise the store looking for yellow tags. These are closeout items, and are reduced in price to something approaching only merely ludicrous. See what's available that may fit somewhere in your lifestyle.

Cheers!

Thankx for the advice! yeah everything there is so expensive.
If nothing else, I'll buy batteries for my surround sound remote.

You've got questions, they have vacant stares.

 No kidding. About 15 years ago, I had some RS saleslady lecture me on how she had a Masters in Electrical Engineering. My thought was, "Why the FUCK are you working at Radio Shack?" :wtf:

My uncle is similarly educated, and there was a time when he got laid off from his job and couldn't find employment anywhere but Radio Shack. He had a family to support, so he took the job. It may not have been the most prestigious thing in the world, but it wasn't terrible either.

That ...CEO Can't Figure Out...... story is rather funny. Note, however, that it is nearly three years old.

I do remember, when my kids were young, finding some decent toys at RS around Christmas - especially RC cars. But, I could always count on them for electronic components - not that I used to mess around with that stuff too much. But, if I needed a switch, a resistor, etc., I could always find it there.

A year or two ago I was trying to find a replacement lamp ("bulb" in the vernacular) for an old fiber optic decoration that I had. I walked in looking for the little bins at the back of the store that used to hold all that stuff and found that they were gone! When I asked at the counter if they still carried any lamps, the guy at the cash register told me I probably would be better off at a furniture store!

So, they must have figured out some changes. In a way it's kind of sad, but it makes sense. Who screws around with elctronic components much anymore? Even repairmen I've known have gone out of business. All this stuff is basically disposable now. Tiny little DVD players for $25? I remember buying my first VCR for $1000!

Oh, I can understand that, it was just the way she came across when talking to us and then threw her education in our faces, as if she were so much better than we. That's what I found to be so absurd.

I used to love selling to mothers around Christmas. Load them up with books and electronic kits - and batteries of course. I'll bet there were some happy kids on Christmas morning.

They sure have cut down on the electric parts. That's where all the profit was. Inventory must be a breeze now. God I hated those.

How about buying a beautiful cycling jersey?

^ Eh?

I haven't been into a RadioShack in years. I always hated the way they insisted on taking down my name and address for every little thing I bought. So I started making them up. Once I told them my name was James T. Kirk and they didn't even flinch.
