Radio Shack

My mom refuses to give out her zip code, and I just don't understand why. For some reason she thinks they'll use that information to track her down and break into her bank account or something...

It's a zip code. It's not your social security number!

She is aware that many many other people also have her zip code...right?

I don't know. She just always gets angry and tells them no. They usually don't know how to respond.

The Radio Shack where I work had an old manager that hired only folks that worked in electronics or were studying electronics...The parts drawers were a HUGE part of our business..and he kept them well stocked..was a bitch for the monthly inventory, but you made much more money selling them and making your goals..than the $5.00 per cell phone deal that corporate pushed..

We got a new manager when our old one was burned out...this punk was LAZY and opinionated and had no morals..by the time he was through..our parts drawers were down by 50% and most of the electronics based employees had been traded for the usual teenage drones that knew NOTHING...

One employee from when I was there is still working.. he informed me that the punk manager stole 5 televisions, 8 computers, and other items from the backroom before he was caught..and fired... The new manager is busy rebuilding the parts drawers..

So corporate wants to hire these types, pay them very little, treat em like crap..and they act surprised when they steal from Radio Shack....Instead of paying a little more and getting much better help and service for their customers...

Th...the old Tandy 1000. Which were decent, if stupidly proprietary, machines...

Hey, wait five and a quarter minutes there... The Original 1000 was pretty darn standard, as was the slightly hopped up 1000SX. It was the 1000 HX and TX that started getting wierd iron.

The 2000 was ahead of its time, and hence not IBM AT compatable, but a nice machine.

Ah, memories of repairing TRS-80s and the later Tandys!
Ahhh ok. Our's was a 1000EX, which needed a ridiculously expensive card to add memory to.
But they did have TGA and 4 channel sound chips. Starflight and Earl Weaver Baseball on the 1000EX - many good times. Lots of creative work too, with its GW-BASIC.
With an extra external 5 1/4" drive, and a daisy wheel printer. Sigh.
