R.I.P. Dan O'Bannon

A month ago I had no idea who this was, then over US Thanksgiving I watched the Alien Quadrology including a lot of the extras on there.

RIP

From HardRadio.com
DANIEL THOMAS "DAN" O'BANNON - who helped create the cult classic animation feature Heavy Metal, writing two segments, Soft Landing and B-17 in 1981 - died on Thursday, December 17th from Crohn's disease, a gastrointestinal disorder of which he suffered all of his adult life. Born September 30, 1946, O'Bannon was an American motion picture screenwriter, director and occasional actor, usually in the science fiction and horror genres. His credits include the original Star Wars (1977), Alien (1979), The Return Of The Living Dead (1985) and Total Recall (1990).
I didn't know he had anything to do with Star Wars or Heavy Metal, but IMDB backs it up. He worked on visual effects for A New Hope.

Yep, he did the "computer" animations.

Anyhow, we'll be able to look at some interesting stuffs from his career soon at http://www.danobannon.com

Diane asked me to mention this site, and says: " I plan on putting up a lot of his writing and art because I want the world to remember him."

And, knowing how us fans love to have sources of filmmakers' writing and artwork, I reckon this'll be good.

Spamming over...
