Beyond Antares' post could no doubt have been better-considered, but I can sort of get where he was coming from and I spoke to that here, which ought to have been sufficient.
Now, while it would be unreasonable of me to expect that no one else would want to reply to his post, what I do not want to see is the sort of would-be backseat moderation exemplified by WinstonSmith's post above, in which he attempts to school someone he supposes a troll, only to end up looking more than a little trollish himself. One thing I particularly do not wish to see is a second such example from Mr. WinstonSmith.
Now, if we could manage to do without personal criticisms of fellow posters and please get back to discussing the topic of Zach Quinto's decision to more openly discuss his sexuality and what impact that might (or might not) have on things?

Quinto is an up an coming A-list Ellen when she came out was B-list and NPH who had not really made his big come back left was almost C-list. NPH now is a solid B.

I have to say, after watching HEROES, I'm not really surprised. He just has that demeanor to him. However, do I have a comment on it? Not really. I don't want to sound like a jerk too much, but in this day and age, I don't believe anyone should get Kudos for "Coming Out" If anything, he's now helped his career more.
I simply don't understand some struggles. I understand with admitting you're homosexual in 1950's America or in an overly Religious Family, but in the Entertainment World of the 2000s I don't see it as a big deal, and I am not too sure Quinto sees it that way either. Perhaps that is why he simply kept quiet about it for so long. To those secure enough (or not radical activists) it simply isn't a big deal.

I wish what you said was true. We will know for sure if Quinto's star keeps ascending or if it gets derailed.

I would suggest that anyone who doesn't think that a successful young actor coming out of the closet is not a big deal has no real understanding of the amount of heterosexism that remains both in the entertainment industry and American culture at large.

Personally, I applaud Zachery Quinto for coming out. This is the 21st century, there are gay people who act. Get over it and move on. I also concur that this is non-news like when George Takei came out.
Saying that it is non-news is actually the wrong thing to do. It is news. Just like Obama being the first African American President of the United States is big news. It IS a big deal. It is important that it is a big deal. It was important to Quinto that it is a big deal, he said so in the interview.
Not always but yeah most of the time I can tell. It's not a "they are a flamer" thing. But you get a feeling and generally it's true.
Quinto is in no way a flamer but I could tell long before I knew for a fact. The same went for Matt Bomer , Sean Meher and Taylor Lautner. NPH on the other hand... I didn't have a clue about him.
Studies have been presented showing that people can tell sometimes just by looking at photographs of a persons face.
It was non-news to me about Zach. As I said, I thought he'd come out already. Takei was a little more of a surprise, but I'm glad he did so he was true to himself. But neither of them was really forced out.
They came out in their own time and in their own ways.
