Quick question about Keenser

rather than that he simply tagged along as Scotty's sidekick because they'd happened to be stuck in the same backwater Starfleet posting together.

I don't know if this has been discussed anywhere - but what was the reason behind Keenser being assigned to this outpost? Was it punishment as with Scotty for some Starfleet misdemeanor?

I always wonder, M'Sharak--what's the difference between Spamming and a simple ADD Moment?

I don't know what THAT difference is but under the FAQ there is this definition:

Spamming
You can't post the same thing multiple times on the board, or post the same thing over and over in a certain thread or forum, or continuously make posts that have no real content or relevance to what is being discussed.

Spamming can even just be posting too much. As a general rule, don't post more than two or three threads in a forum within a reasonable length of time.

I like Keenser. I assumed he was an Ensign too. He and Scotty probably worked together previously. Perhaps Keenser was one of Scotty's students at Starfleet Academy. In his bio on the official Star Trek site, Scotty was Admiral Archer's Academy Aide. I wonder if that is how they became co-workers and were assigned to Delta Vega together.

My only bitch about Keenser was the R2D2 noises he made when left behind. This was rather dumbchilling. But.. I got over it.

Hopefully if he appears in STXII he has more of a personality than humorous sidekick.

Yeah Leeta had her pouty noise.. but I always loved her. Her spouse was pretty damn pouty too!

Ensign or Warrant Officer/Crewman of some sort. He was Scotty's junior and helper on Delta Vega and Scotty himself was no higher than a lt. commander just like he was in the original TOS timeline. So Keenser was likely the "Ewok'hadar" redshirt in engineering and on the ship when the movie ended.

I'm less annoyed by Keenser every time I see the film. I also agree that he is an Ensign because of the hardworking Starfleet officer line.

I hope we find out what species he is in the next movie. Just to shut up all the people who STILL think he's some Jem'Hadar orphan stranded from the Gamma Quadrant some 110 years before anyone in the Federation even knows what the hell the Dominion even is.

He doesn't look anything like a Jem'Hadar... That's the first time I heard that one.

I had just figured he was one of the many previously unseen races from the new movie (like that alien on the Kelvin).

Not me. In fact, when the movie first came out someone on these boards started a short-lived thread conjecturing if Keenser was a Jem'Hadar orphan or not.
