Questions About Kirk and the Nexus

My second question is, when the Nexus comes by after Soran destroys the sun, it clearly goes over the remains of the Enterprise-D. Does this mean that each and every person on the ship had their own illusion like Kirk, Picard and Soran?

I think the planet and Enterprise D were just destroyed by the shockwave of the destroyed star and not the Nexus itself. It crashed in a valley and Soran had set up his operations on higher ground where the ribbon was going to pass. As I understood it they were all just killed and not inside the Nexus.

The Nexus seem to choose who it wanted to take based on the terrible script. I agree, when the ribbon passed, it should've taken everyone. How large was this phenomenon anyway??? The size of it seemed to change whenever it suited it.

Judging by what they were looking at in stellar cartography it's not big enough to envelop the entire planet, it's a fraction of the size. The Enterprise could have crashed on the far side of the planet for all we know. Soran was in a dry/desert region and wherever the saucer crashed appeared to be pretty rich in vegetation.

The ribbon appeared to have energy tentacles, which can latch on to starships. Starships are quite large. I'm sure those tentacles could've latched on to a crewmember.

Apparently so, if they were close enough I guess. We don't know where the Enterprise D was in relation to Soran's set-up though. They could have been thousands of miles away.

I can answer any questions that you may have about the Nexus with a resounding "Who the hell knows?"

I really didn't care for this movie! I did not like seeing Captain Kirk die this way! He was a true hero and this was not a death for a true hero!

Just saying

I agree, I wouldn't have killed Kirk at all but if he had to die why make it so lame? The way he supposedly died, saving the Enterprise B, was was a death fit for Kirk. They brought him back just to have him fall off a rock.

And he died for the Enterprise D crew. It beats not having a ending at all (like how it was).

Agreed. This is also why Soran doesn't simply fly directly into the Nexus, as any ship trying to do so would be destroyed before the occupant could reach it.

As for how Picard was able to find Kirk so quickly: It's because he wanted to. The Nexus grants the wishes of whoever is in it. Picard wanted to find Kirk, so he did.

If it was the real Kirk that fought Soran and died, wouldn't he still have an echo in the Nexus, like Guinan in Picard's fantasy?

No. Guinan left an echo behind because she was "pulled...RIPPED away" by the Enterprise-B's transporter. The process was incomplete, apparently.

Somebody who actually wants to leave the Nexus (like Kirk and Picard did) can do so at any time. They don't leave echoes behind when they do that.
