Questions about 2009 xmas specials (Spoilers!!)

Snick27

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Spoilers!!!!!! Maybe!!!!

Its been hinted that the main bad guy is going to be the Master and it will again be Simms.

My question is we seen him die and get burned to ashes. So how do you think the Master is coming back and survived?

I figured it be cause of his ring, but how can he still be Simms though?

Any thoughts?

And wouldnt it be cool if both the Master and the Doctor both had to regenerate at the end of the specials. As i read where Simms thinks Matt should have his own Master.

It's Sci-Fi, anything is possible.

There could be DNA on the ring. Bring out the old DNA reassembler and viola! Simm is the Master again!

The Master has always been good at clinging to life, and bending the rules.

I suspect Donna picked it up, and after she fused with Timelord DNA, the ring was able to rebuild the Master using her new Timelord-hybrid essence, and thus leaving her completely human again.

Any thoughts?
Sure.
There's some speculation based on set reports that the Master is a figment of the Doctor's mind. Immolation is a little difficult to recover from (though the Master survived being immolated in "Planet of Fire").

John Simm as The Master is always winsauce.

Limitless possibilities with a character who always finds a way to come back.

He could have implanted an exact genetic clone with all of his memories into his wife's uterus. They could do the same thing with the DNA on his ring. He could have reprogrammed The Doctor's next regeneration to have The Doctor turn into a copy of him, as a final act of revenge. The Doctor is able to separate the tainted regeneration into it's own being and begin to do a pure regeneration. But I'm sure there are much better ways of it happening being thought up by much more creative and talented people then me though. So however they do it, it will rawk.

That would be cool. Thematically it would make sense. Simm has always been astute in recognizing themes and when they have run their course. Still, I would miss his portrayal just as I will miss Number 10. Because Evil Megalomaniacs are a dime a dozen. However very funny and charismatic Evil Megalomaniacs are a rarity and should be cheerished for their efforts to entertain.

Hmm i like that one. Ive a fan of the show since 2005 so dont no much of the older series except for what ive watch of the 4th Doctor whom i still say it the best.

Just been thinking how he could be brought back and duh, its sci-fiction.
I just be crushed if the rumors are false and he isnt in the specials.

But how could Donna pick up the ring though as Martha was with the Doctor and didnt think the Doctor burned him on earth. Figured he would cover his ass and do it somewhere else.

And any word if Jack is in the specials?

I hope the answer is that The Rani picked up the ring and reconstructed the Master

^That was just a rumor, and the people who made the claim have since turned out to be wrong about a bunch of other stuff. Stewart is currently doing a theatre role that pretty much rules out any work on the specials.

He would probably work out a tad expensive for Who, though maybe a possibility one day if he was available and a deal could be struck.

I don't think he's that pricy, ITV could afford him for that dire series they made a few years ago-doubt they could get him for a reccuring role, but for a one off epic he'd be probably be affordable (as affordable as treking to Dubai anyway!)

I think what happens is that Donna, still packed with time lord energy, comes into contact with the Ring in the same way she did the Doctor's severed hand. The resulting contact probably creates Master 2.0 just like Doctor 2.0. (Or 10.2)

Plus hasn't he already said he wants to be in it? I'm sure he'd he'd be more than happy to cut a deal in exchange for a good part.

And hey, they torched the Master once in Planet of Fire and he came back. Why not a second time?

He is fairly expensive on the whole - remember for a lead in their shows ITV have fairly deep pockets, think how much David Suchet must pocket these days for doing Poirot?

I'm sure nuWho could dig deep for Stewart if they wanted him enough. That said would they necessarily want to get on the sci-fi crossover bandwagon?

Oh now that is good thinking.

An actor of Stewart's caliber is always willing to "take a pay cut" for a role he'd really like to play. Look at Johnny Depp. I read in an interview where he bases his fees on how much money he needs to get by for the next year or two rather than an astronomical paycheck.

The perfect solution below:

The Doctor: You died in my arms, your body was cremated! I saw it burnt to ashes. How did you manage to survive?

The Master: That's just going to have to be my little secret, now, isn't it?
