Not the biggest Voyager fan, tho I enjoy the occasional episode or two. But I caught the episode where Neelix leaves the ship.....and as he says farewell to Tuvok, Tuvok does something with his feet. What was that exactly? I either don't know what it's in reference to, or have long forgotten.

It's from the episode Homestead. The crew were celebrating First Contact Day with the Vulcans, "in honour of the three hundred and fifteenth anniversary of Tuvok's ancestors' arrival on Earth". Then Neelix started some music, began to dance and they said

NEELIX: And now, for some more of Zefram Cochrane's favourite music. Hey, come on, Mister Vulcan.
TUVOK: Vulcans do not dance.
NEELIX: But it's tradition.

What Tuvok did in the end was the Vulcan way of dancing

I think its called homestead. Season 7 disk 7 i think.
Basically neelix tells tuvok to do a dance when voyager celebrated zefro cockring. Its just a little gesture that he did at the end i cant explain it really.

It was an homage to the emotional Talaxian, a way for the unemotional Vulcan to acknowledge their "friendship".

The rest of the first scene that kathrynjaneway quoted goes like this...

TUVOK: Vulcans do not dance.
NEELIX: But it's tradition.
TUVOK: There is no tradition, Mister Neelix. This ceremony is entirely your invention.
JANEWAY: This is an official ship function, Commander. Don't make me order you to dance.

Two scenes later while in the Delta Flyer, Neelix and Tuvok are still going at it.

NEELIX: It wouldn't have hurt you to do a few steps.
TUVOK: I am trying to concentrate on the shields, Mister Neelix.
NEELIX: I think you were just afraid.
TUVOK: That's absurd.
NEELIX: It's understandable. There were a lot of people watching.
TUVOK: Vulcans don't experience fear.
NEELIX: I'm going to make it my personal mission to get you to dance at least once before we reach Earth.
TUVOK: Then I suggest you find a more productive hobby.


Tuvok's final goodbye to Neelix "gave him" that personal victory.

Frankly, I would rather have seem him smile slightly and nod. The dancing thing hurt my head a bit.

What Neelix should have got in the end of that stinker was a commission and a uniform from Janeway when he left, and then Ensign Kim would have to salute Lieutenant Neelix farewell because the universe is more hilarious than just.

Couldn't agree more! I think that would have been a nice gesture. I didn't need to see Neelix dance and I sure didn't want to see Tuvok move his foot in that stupid way.
