Question on the replicators in the Pegasus Galaxy? *Spoilers*

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey guys, does anyone know why the replicators in the Peg. never formed new technology? they were still using 10,000 year old technology.

still using the exact same ships, exact same ZPM's etc etc.

was this something built as a limitation of their programming?

Because they didn't have the budget to build new set...I mean, technology. Yeah, that's the ticket.

They probably didn't feel the need...the Tau'ri (Humans) in Atlantis use 10,000 year old tech and handled their enemies quite well. Remember the Pegasus Replicators were planning to handle the Wraith on their own timetable and figured they could take the Wraith with their old tech, especially since most of the Wraith had been hibernating for who knows how long and therefore didn't advance their tech very far.
Having said that...it does beg the question of what the Reps were doing for the past 10,000 years...I have no idea. Gep Malakai is probably right... ;)

Again, I put forth the theory that the producers realy liked the ship designs and costumes they created for the Ancients, and therefore brought the Replicators in as Ancient posers as an excuse to re-use their ships and costumes. It fits from my point of view.

Personally, I would have just thought up some contrived way to bring the Ancients themselves back.

It's also possible that since their primary purpose (to attack the Wraith) was disabled, it also disabled their initiative to develop new technologies that would help them with that. As Sheppard pointed out, they been sitting on their nanite asses for 10,000 years.
