Question for the linguists

Mandra

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Is there a Vulcan or Klingon (or maybe Romulan) word for Rainbow?

I wonder if Vulcan even has rainbows......

I currently have a litter of pups, and one of them greatly reminds me of her great-grandmother, Rainbow, so I'd like to give her that name but in a different language.

BTW, I've decided to give the other pups Star Trek names, but NOT the names of the main cast. Instead I plan on using the names of the weekly "guest" characters from the original series. I have 1 male and 7 female Basset Hounds, so suggestions from dog-loving trekkies are welcome.

Actually, I think the boy is going to be Harry.

I don't know any Vulcan. There's no Klingon word for "rainbow". You could try something like SISmeH 'rain-bridge', pronounced "Shish-MEKH". I have to admit, it doesn't sound very nice, though.

If you're going to name your cat in another language, I'd recommend using a real one. Arco iris from Español, for instance, or arc-en-ciel from Français.
