Question about TOS blu-rays

I currently own all three seasons of TOS on DVD (Region 1). I am thinking about selling the DVDs and purchasing the blu-rays.

I know they recently remastered some of the episodes and changed some of the old special effects to look more modern. However, I prefer the original special effects.

Does anyone know if the blu-rays include the episodes as they were originally shown, or if they include the changed special effects?

Thanks,
mike.

Both. You can pick either.

Get them!

Thanks for the reply.

By that, do you mean there are two versions of the blu-way out there, and I have to make sure I purchase the one I want? Or do you mean, any blu-ray purchased gives you the option to watch original effects or more moden effects any time you want?

I'm getting the three seasons in Blu-ray once they are all packaged together in Dec. Yep, you watch the remastered or the old version, whichever turns your crank at any given moment. My old set will go to my daughter.

Same here, my old set is going to my son. I originally thought i'd put them up for sale, but he expressed great interest in having them....i'd much rather pass them along to him.

I think you got it, but just to be clear, you get both of them on the blueray. You click a button for which one you want to see.

Ok...so i finally got to watch a couple of episodes on the first season Blu-rays. Either i am retarded and can't figure it out, or this set doesnt have a whole lot of extra stuff.

I eventually found which button to click to make the effects go from "original" to "improved"......but is that all there is? I thought there were alot of extras included on the blu-rays.

I did find on one of the early episodes (i watched the first three) pop ups of Mike & Denise Okuda talking about something or other (I've already forgotten thanks to CRS), but they popped up for just that one episode.

AM i missing something here?

BTW, i thought i would HATE the updated effects, but i don't. I may actually...um...like them. NEVER thought i would say that!

On the menus, look for "Additional Data". That's where your extras are hiding. If that option's not there, then no extras on that particular disc.

We bought all three seasons at Amazon during their Black Friday sale -- which may still be going on. The first two arrived already, and the third will come in December when it's issued. The price was good: $57 each for 1&2, and $52 for 3.

Thanks! I finally figured it out (i totally suck with technology)....i thought there were extras on ALL the discs, but there aren't. That's why i couldn't find them!

Also look for "Easter Eggs" (little hidden extras) on a few discs. Where you see 4 buttons on the menus, click on the lower right one and you sometimes get a 2-minute clip. I saw one of DC Fontana and another of David Gerrold.

I came across this same deal on Amazon for each individual set as well. However, they are selling an all-in-one set of the three seasons for $193. Obviously, it would be cheaper to purchase them seperately. However, I'm wondering if the all-in-one set includes extras that aren't in the individual sets. Anyone have any idea?

thanks.
mike.
