Question about the original Matt Jeffies design.

Apologies if this is a bit irrelevant as it’s not the original model but the TMP refit seems to have retained one of the triangles on the port side and appears to be using it as a recess for an airlock.

Said "triangle" isn't. It's a trapezoid. Also, the triangles on the TOS ship narrow as they go out whereas the trapezoid widens. Not the same things at all.
