Question about "The Cage".

^^Yes, there is a remastered edition of "The Cage," but it hasn't been scheduled for broadcast yet. It's been suggested that it may air sometime next season. The problem may be that the pilot is too long to air in a normal time slot; my hope is that they'll schedule it as a 90-minute special, allowing them to run it nearly uncut. Perhaps the delay is because they're debating with the syndicator whether to do that or brutally hack it down to fit in an hour with 19 or 20 minutes of commercials.

^ I would rather they not show it all if they are going to hack it to death. The syndication cuts for the regular episodes were bad enough so I can only imagine what they will do to "The Cage".

I can easily see a new TOS syndication package that had the remastered episodes and and a special built around The Cage. It would be two hours, with features. A station would run the special first, to kick off their showing the series. I'm sure there would be a break halfway through if the station wanted to run the special again as a two parter during the regular run.

There was some show....one of the Stargates?....that had a 90 minute episode which obviously couldn't be repeated in the regular one hour slot and yet was part of the series run, so had to be included.

They simply broke it into two parts, and there was a lot of overlap between the two episodes. (A lot of the footage already seen in the latter portion of part one was also aired in the early portion of part two.)

I wouldn't be surprised if they go this route. I mean, it'd really ruin it if they ran a 65min episode cut back to 45 minutes to allow for commercials. (Yeah...in its full form, CAGE is about 65min long.)

The official word, early on, was that they'd do it uncut.

I'm suspecting they'll hold to that, and do it over a two week period.

Hopefully they'll do it early in "season three", as opposed to doing it at the very end, after a year's worth of repeats.
