Why would a Cardassian be in disguise on the ship for any *other* reason than espionage?

How could a Cardassian join Star Fleet except in disguise?

she was part of Chakotay's maquis crew that came on Voyager, so she never officialy joined Starfleet

it would be interesting if a Cardassian did want to join starfleet though....

I think it's also part of the metaphor of why they look like snakes.
You know, like how Sisko was the Bajorian Jesus. In the Bible, Satan is often represented by a snake or serpent. If Bajoians are the chosen people, Cardassians are the people of the Devil.

You know, I often wondered about that myself since Alaimo's look was so different from Macet to Dukat. If you do a side by side, it looks like they took the old one and just "added more snake."

I can't of any alien makeup that I'd find comfortable, save the "forehead" aliens, of course. Even then I'd probably spend most of the time picking at it.

Especially the neck ridges.

Can you imagine the hell Ethan Philips went thru to not only have the latex applied but then sit there for all the air brushed spots!?

I'd be pissed going thru all that and have little or no part to play!
