Question about GTA4

I used the cheat code to get the helicopter. When I fly across the river to the other part of the city. The police come after me and the cheat code to cancel the wanted level doesn't work. Can someone please tell me why that is and how I can cancel the wanted level when I cross the river?

Did you fly to a part of the city that you haven't unlocked yet? Because that's how the game tries to keep you out of there, with a full-fledged wanted level that won't go away.

I don't think there's a way to access the other parts of the island without progressing the story unfortunately.

Yep. You gotta play the game.
The good news is, you're only about 50% through the storyline missions by the time Jersey (Algonquin) is unlocked. At which point you can party all over till she's cute.

Also, there's a Maverick you can steal at some rich asshole's mansion on the Northern tip of Algonquin without the need for cheats.

Hah, yeah. You actually need that to do one of the co-op missions under the time limit... which I'm sure no one is playing nowadays actually.

Algonquin is the Manhattan equivalent, I think you mean Alderney, that's the one that's supposed to be jersey.

Anyway, it's a rite of passage. Whenever a new GTA comes out, I have to set aside a week or so to "clear" all the locked areas. I can't relax and enjoy the sandbox nature of the game until I do so.
