Quark v Guinan

Better Bartender?

I'd rather be served by Guinan than be bamboozled by Quark, but I find the Ferengi's character (and Armin Shimerman's performance of said character) much more compelling.

Guinana better character, better personality but Quark was the better bar tender because he wouldn't pry into your life and suggest whats wrong with you, he just let you drink and gamble your problems away:rommie:

It's definitely Ten Forward for me, because Guinan would have centuries of stories to tell and it would most likely be a much cleaner establishment.

Quark was sort of ok for providing the gateway to the "sleazy underworld" at least in a panty-waist trek sort of way. Though i always hated the ferengi in general.

Guinan was ok at first when she was sort of this mysterious alien that could sense Q and alternate timelines but they didn't go anywhere with it. I guess i'd prefer guinan because she'd actually give you good advice.

Quark by a mile. Every time you sit down at Ten Forward it's like a counseling session with someone even more smug that Deanna Troi. Oh-so-clever, oh-so-smarmy, oh-so-wry.

Quark, he asks what you want to drink and then asks if he can offer you anything else. He's interested in your money, and thus interested in seeing that you are served and happy at all times.

Quark is far more interesting of a character and compelling of a storyteller. Quark can tell a story that has dozens of people hanging on his every word because he is so animated & exciting as he tells it. Don't think Guinan ever did that, did she? Guinan is very dry and mundane in comparison. Quark is a way better bartender.

I'd rather drink with my hand on my wallet while viewing Dabo girls, than drink in a quiet lounge with some lady looking at me with a mother's "I can see your soul" look in her eye!

Anyone who has lived hundreds of years has the right to some smugness, among other things. Because of her age alone, Guinan would be someone whose advise I would seek out. Quark on the other hand; if he tried to do anything beyond simply pour me a drink I'de never go back into his bar. The little gnome has nothing else to offer.

Guinan by miles.

Feh. I'll take a host who wants to see me have a good time over one who wants me to see into my soul any stardate of the week. Plus, I love the Ferengi.

10 Forward!? who goes to a bar to get psychoanalyzed, I'd rather go to Quarks, win at Tongo, get paralytic drunk and wake up under a table the next day with a black eye two naked Dabo girls. Thats a good night out!

It's definitely Ten Forward for me, because Guinan would have centuries of stories to tell and it would most likely be a much cleaner establishment.

But Ten Forward is like the most boring bar I've ever seen. No pool table, no dart board, no dice games in the corner, no drunk couple dry-humping on the dance floor, AND THEY DON'T EVEN SERVE REAL LIQUOR!

Now I ask you, what kind of fun is that?

;)

If I go to Quark's I'm very likely to see some side boob (or underboob), I can play darts, go do unspeakable things in the holosuite, gamble, get drunk, probably see somebody get arrested, and maybe get in a knife fight!

Now that's a bar!

Quark by a country mile. He actually ran a bar where costs and profits matter. Ten Forward if you didn't get enough people in the door that month you didn't have to worry about how you were going to pay your suppliers and staff.

After reading the replies my vote changed. I think Guinan is a great character, but if we are talking a good night out in a bar I agree Quarks would be more fun. And I'd stroke his ear to get a discount, although I doubt that would work!

Quarks for a few pints and some darts, or some holosuite time. By a mile.

I'd go to Guinan's for the good stuff, though. And to swap funny stories with her, bet she's got some.

Quark was by far the better provider of customer service. I wouldn't do business with him but I admired his hosting skills and natural charm. He didn't judge his customers. He didn't fire energy weapons during bar fights.

And I'd share a table with Jadzia, or Ezri, since we're there anyway....

Quark. Don't trust those El-Aurians!

Besides I think Quark's Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade is far more of an interesting place than Ten Forward.

Sit on the upper level and watch the races of the galaxy go by, chat with a Dabo girl while my money runs out over the
dabo table, play darts, book some time in the holosuite and if I ever feel the need to repent there's a Bajoran
temple across the promenade.

The answer depends on your definition of "better." I chose Guinan because I took better to mean an honest business person. Both do the actual job of serving drinks and running a bar, but Quark will pick your pocket if you're not looking. Guinan is an honest person. That being said, I think Quark was a much more interesting character.
