Been seeing a bit of buzz about this here and there over the last couple of years, and now that it's gotten a grant from DARPA for testing, seems worthy of discussion

Of the various propellentless drive ideas that have come by recently, the EmDrive seemed most unlikely, to me, and in testing that has seemed to be proven out. I am still very curious to see how repeated tests of Woodward and Fearn's work continues. QI, on the other hand, is fascinating just from the theoretical idea itself. I don't know if there's anything to it, but it would require a major rethinking of certain aspects of physics if it there proven to be true.
 
If it works, it would certainly be a huge game changer. I am duly skeptical but let's wait and see what the experiments show. Theories are nice and all but they need to be proven by experimental data before they can be trusted as true.

I do believe that someday, our understanding of physics will be advanced enough that we will figure out some type of new fuel-less propulsion for space travel, whether it be a "warp drive" or something else. And when that day arrives, it will open up incredible possibilities for space exploration and colonization.
 
This idea that if we build it - it will work? sorta thing going on here.
usually with quantum and Pseudo-quantum idea "forms" they work till the next theory proves they don't work... but why is that ? gravity worked fine till Einstein Refined it then quantum gravity would and does make sense --- until the pseudo-post quantum idea is grouped differently (wait for it)

EM Drive is --- working with the ion effect in full swing. but EM alone might not get us anywhere, of course string theory is merely pushing pen and paper about in a time circle like -- really just tie the string into a loop --- and keep looping it till --- it vanishes but mmmm Digressions have never been my thing too much...

quanta temporal field dynamics (or trinamics) is an idea where ,.. the field matrix is resolved in a multidimensional vector cross product reduction technique that need not be repeated --- I hope.

good to see a serious test going through and I hope that have taken good care to remove all spurious modifiers and lorentz effects from the experiment.
 
Technically - it's always been that way, and not just with spaceflight...

Ever heard of a "flash boiler"... Late 1800's concept for a steam boiler that could build up pressure MUCH faster than a traditional boiler but - materials just weren't ready for it. One brand of steam powered cars used it and then...poof...

it was an interesting concept, too late to compete, but never say never. I think Leno has at least one Doble in his collection.
