Q's re: Founder's Home Planet (after the move)

1) Does the FHP have a working security grid?
2) Is it just guarded by a few squadrons of JH?
3) How did Odo/Kira slip thru in a runabout and land on the planet-if they had a security grid

No clue, but judgin' from 'The Search, Part One', the Founders know how to find a planet that no one is goin' to be lookin' for, except other Founders.

A security grid won't be necessary.

Who knows? Probably, yeah...

3) How did Odo/Kira slip thru in a runabout and land on the planet-if they had a security grid

...uhm...

It's Odo - duh! He's a Founder, and thus, welcome to join the Great Link.

I think US got it right. The jist of the Q was: how did a SF Runabout make it through the legions of Jem ships patrolling the Founders planet. They'd fire on any ship if its not Dominion. So, guessing, the Romulan Founder alerted the homeworld that Odo was prolly headed their way-if not, its a hole in the plot

What Romulan Founder?

There were two visits to the Founders' planet after they left the Omarian Nebula. The first, the Defiant was piloted by a Jem'Hadar, with a small escort and the Female Founder onboard. The second, was just Kira & Odo headin' out after the war. All Odo would have to do is open a channel to any ship headed his way, and that would be that - no one would have fired on 'em, no advance word would have been necessary.

Lovok?

He was only seen in the third season.

What makes ya think he had anything to do with Odo & Kira in 'What You Leave Behind'?

Okay, big confusion here...

Two hideout planets for the Founders!

1) One seen in "The Search" and destroyed in "The Die is Cast"; well hidden, probably heavily defended nevertheless, allowed Odo and Kira to land because they knew Odo would be aboard. After all, they had just raided his ship!

2) Another first seen in "Broken Link", last seen in "What You Leave Behind"; again well hidden, probably a bit farther away from the wormhole than the previous one, no doubt heavily guarded. Only invited guests ever reached the orbit, let alone the surface. Starfleet probably still doesn't know the whereabouts.

For all we know, the Founders swap hideouts every century or so. Hideout #1 must have been there for quite some time because Odo remembers it; or perhaps he was preprogrammed with the visual memory of the nebula back when the Founders were actually hiding elsewhere and only planning on moving to Omarion. Hard to tell. But the Founders could be expected to have multiple backup plans and locations, originally for hiding from their own Solid subjects, later useful in hiding from external enemies. And the heavy guard around each hideout would probably still be fairly limited in size and extremely trustworthy and secretive - no shore leaves ever allowed...

Well, the first time, Kira & Odo were in a shuttle.

Presumably, they left the station in a runabout after the war. So, that's how I figured Photon was askin' about their arrival at the Great Link in 'What You Leave Behind'.

Keep in mind that when Odo and Kira beamed down, we saw the Starfleet transporter effect. Therefore it's safe to assume they traveled to the FH in a Starfleet vessel of some kind.

If they traveled there by themselves in a runabout, that means they both know the location of the homeworld. Even if only Odo was told the location before they left DS9, Kira had to fly back by herself, and locating the FH again would be a simple matter of retracing her course in the opposite direction.

Another possibility is that Odo and Kira were both merely passengers, with the ship being piloted by a Jem'Hadar who then scrambled the ship's navigation logs to erase that information (à la the Defiant in "Broken Link").

No, but Odo & Kira's departure from the station was at a runabout airlock.

Odo did link with the Female Founder - she could have shared the coordinates with him durin' that link on Cardassia Prime, as part of the agreement between her & Odo for him to go back and cure the others while she surrendered.

Mmm, I don't think so.

Back at the station, they showed Odo and Kira boarding a vessel that had a runabout doorway, though. Then again, all visiting Starfleet vessel types and some non-Starfleet ones utilize that doorway...

Whatever they flew, it would surely have been intercepted by the Jem'Hadar and escorted in, and the navigational computer purged afterwards. But it wouldn't be all that difficult to hide a simple camera on Kira's or, better still, Odo's body to allow for triangulation from the starscape... Then again, the Jem'Hadar would probably expect that.

Do Changelings have eidetic visual memories or similar abilities? That is, would Odo have needed a set of coordinates in some familiar system in order to locate the hideout planet, or could he have memorized star patterns or an alien string of coordinates?

(Cardassians pride themselves on eidetic memories. Perhaps Odo developed one in order to fit in...)

Who knows? Maybe she just gave him the location as she knew it, similiar to how he knew to go to the Omarian Nebula in 'The Search, Part One'.

Point is, the easiest explanation would be for her to have shared the info with him, since they were able to communicate while linked, even for a few seconds.
