Put you as your avatar!

I always must have Goofy Grape as my Avatar, but here's the compromise I came up with the last time we did this.

That looks great.

You know, if you put each half of the avatar on the opposite side, so that the faces are on the sides instead of the middle, it could even pass for an action flick poster. :bolian:

Eh okay. This one isn't my favourite pic of me, but it's a decent one and different then the one I have in my profile and on the book. From end of last summer. Actually lost a bit of weight since then.

While I prefer to present myself as a psychotic mass-murderer, I'll give it go. It's gonna be blurry and semi-anonymous though!

My av is from Seatrek 2007 to Alaska. My roommates and I got to have dinner with Connor the last three nights of the cruise!

Auntiehill, you are so utterly adorable!!!

I love putting faces to the names!

Jinx, what a great pic of you! And Connor looks DDG in that one. I've thought about doing that cruise many times....my biggest fear is actually motion sickness, which i do suffer from pretty badly.

So does Connor. I think he wore a magnetic bracelet to deal with it. One of my roommates did, too, and it must help, because I don't recall her ever getting sick.

Incidentally, Vulkon has gone the way of the dinosaur. But Joe Motes is still doing the cruise conventions (just no landbased ones, I guess). Here's a link for the next one -- Western Caribbean June 2011.

Jinx, how crowded are those cruises? When i see pictures of regular cruises i freak. TOOOOOO many people and not enough places to escape to.

Well, the cruise ship probably carries a couple thousand people or more.

But Joe limits the number of tickets for the cons ... the 2007 cruise was actually a two-fer -- Seatrek and Slayer (as in Buffy)... and you had the option of attending whatever was going on for either of them. I think Joe said there were 125 fans for each, which was really nice because the actors were actually accessible.

You could actually chat with them when you were getting autographs and if you saw them around the ship, you could just walk up to them and talk to them or have somebody take a snapshot with them. I'd do it again in a minute.

One warning: It's about double what you'd pay if you were just going to do a cruise on your own, because the stars have to be paid to spend 7 days at a convention and they obviously don't foot the bill for their flights and shipboard accommodations (some of them bring family members -- Connor's brother, Matt, accompanied him in 2007).

Joe does set up an installment plan for paying off your tickets, but the sooner you pay them off the higher on the list you go for dinner seating arrangements with the stars. I was amazed we got to sit with Connor (our first choice) the last three nights because we didn't sign up until fall 2006 and registration had been open since January!
