Pushing Religion

Well Captain X, you certainly know how to treat a conversation with tact and sincerity.
Sincerity, yes, tact, no – I don't care for one, and for two I just lack the ability to say anything other than what I truly think and mean.

As I have stated again and again, while other evidence exists, what I have shown you should be at least enough to have a "reasonable doubt" in your mind, but in stead you mock it without really trying to answer it.
You haven't shown me anything from someone what wasn't pushing the same agenda as you, so I'm not impressed and see no reason to do anything but mock it.

It doesn't matter what I show you, you have already made up your minds, more than likely because you like pornography and don't want to change or stop.
Speak for yourself – not long after you made the brain fart of a suggestion that I should ask "any married" man what their wives would think of them looking at porn, a married man told you, followed by a married woman saying essentially the same thing, which was the opposite of what you asserted, yet somehow hearing it right from them hasn't made you so much as miss a beat in how evil and immoral you think porn is. So really, who's more close-minded?

That doesn't mean I think you are a horrible, immoral person as you asserted above, it just means you have a problem with pornography.
The only "problem" I have with it is that I'm running out of room on my hard drive. ;)

We all pretty much have a problem with something...
Yes, but that isn't one of mine. Lack of tact might be considered a problem of mine, if I actually cared.

Here's a test, I have no idea how often or how much porno is viewed by all of you, but if it is everyday try going a week without it, if it is every week, try going a month without any pornography in thought, video, books, magazines, online off-line... anywhere in any form, soft or hard, gay or straight or whatever.
Why would I do that?

If you can go a week or a month without it, and hardly even notice it, feel free to send a PM, then I will gladly concede the point. :)
Not viewing porn doesn't prove that it's not immoral. That's like trying to prove my underwear won't light on fire by not taking a match to my tighty-whities.

I don't like pornography. The first time I was one I was in France aged 14, and one of the channels turned into a porn station after 11pm. I remember thinking that this sort of thing didn't interest me because of how dumb the narrative is. A man finds out that his wife is having an affair with his best friend and he just stands at the door and watches? So then he goes to his friend's house and screws his wife, then his friend comes home, stands at the door and watches? What? The less said about the movie with the clown and midgets the better. :wtf:

It also doesn't appeal to me on a sexual level. I don't like looking at penises for one thing, but even lesbian porn doesn't work for me. I guess I just prefer using my imagination to watching other people's imagination. I have never watched a porn movie since that time in France, and the last time I would have watched anything even slightly pornographic would have been four years ago.

I agree with the other posters in this thread, pornography is is neither immoral or dangerous, and I find any suggestion that it leads to rape to be entirely laughable. Any marriage that breaks up due to pornography probably wasn't going to last anyway.

I have also never paid for a prostitute and have no desire to do so, but I don't find that to be immoral either.

I find the suggestion that the only reason people disagree with you is because of a love of pornography to be inaccurate and presumptive.

It doesn't prove it is immoral, but I would be willing to say it isn't immoral if you can do as I said and quit cold turkey for a month, or even a week.

That makes no sense.

The best I can figure is that you're trying to connect your earlier point (or rather lack there of) about porn being addictive with your assertion that porn is immoral.

Addictive things are often immoral, because we lose control and no longer have choice in the matter. We do it because we have to. And frankly, I don't care what it is, I don't want to be in that kind of a situation, to be addicted to anything.

The offer still stands, let me know...
outta here for now.

So don't do anything you think is addictive and you're be just fine, but leave anyone who's fine with it alone. We're grown adults, and we don't need self-appointed guardians looking out for us.

Answer what? The arm-flailing nonsense of a group of "concerned" christians?

You have not backed up your claims. Provide something with substance that isn't from a questionable, biased source. Then we'll talk.

It doesn't matter what I show you, you have already made up your minds, more than likely because you like pornography and don't want to change or stop.

How absurdly, yet predictably, presumptuous.

Assuming this is still a general "you" and not specifically aimed at Captain X, no, I do not have a "problem" with pornography. I spend far more time on this damn message board than I ever have looking at pr0n.

:guffaw:

That's a laugh. Thinking about sex is immoral and bad for you? Oh dear oh dear. You're the one with issues sir, nobody else here.

Also: No. Go wag your finger at someone else.

If you can go a week or a month without it, and hardly even notice it, feel free to send a PM, then I will gladly concede the point. :)

I'll tell you now, I can't remember the last time I looked at porn. Probably was over a month ago. But I don't expect you to concede the point, nor do I care whether you do or not. I'm done with this discussion.

So...am I not allowed to think about sex at all because I'm single?

I am curious as to whether homosexuality is included in the list of "immoral acts" and "sexual deviancies" that have been discussed in this thread.

Also, I've got to say, from experience, as long as both parties know what they're getting into, casual sex isn't such a bad thing at all. Keeps your hormones in check, and to paraphrase a sometimes-wise man, "you get in and out with a maximum of pleasure and a minimum of bullshit". When I've had a long day at work sometimes I want to enjoy myself for a bit, but without any emotional entanglements...or them sticking around afterwards. Casual sex with a willing partner fits the bill nicely, and it's a hell of a lot more fun than masturbation and a hell of a lot cheaper than hiring a prostitute.

So...I should probably ask...how likely am I to rape someone? I've got a couple of ten-sided dice from that sinful Dungeons and Dragons game lying around, maybe I could use those to check myself before I run out and commit immoral acts...

Also, I'd be a lot more tolerant of religion and religious people in general if they'd stop trying to take away the rights that they themselves take for granted, save my soul, and tell me that I'm going to Hell because of all the horrible things I do. It's a downer, y'know?
