Pushing for the Failure of "DISCOVERY"

Someone had posted this on a thread I had created, speculating that many Trek fans long for the failure of "STAR TREK DISCOVERY":

I would like Star Trek Discovery to fail and the for the jjverse to end because both franchises are style over substance rubbish that are detrimental to the good name of Star Trek. Neither take place in the original timeline so add nothing to established series of Trek, they are just badly written dross for gen z/millennial Star Wars fans. Creating shows/movies for younger generations who couldn’t care less about Star Trek and who wouldn’t spend their money on it is stupidity.

The writing for "STAR TREK DISCOVERY" struck me as being no better or worse than the writing for "NEXT GENERATION", "DEEP SPACE NINE" and "VOYAGER". I smell bigotry reeking from such comments as the above. No one is going to admit that he or she is a bigot. But this rigid hostility of "DISCOVERY" reminds me of the same kind of hostility that has been directed at "VOYAGER" for years. And both series had women as their lead character.

Reminds me of the hostility towards Abrams. Oh wait, that's exactly the treatment Abrams got, along with death threats and accusations of treason.

Ah, fandom.

Also, in before the lock (again).

Well, I don't the there is something inherently bigoted in this particular comment (at least not of the sexism or racism kind). I certainly find it odd and strongly disagree with about everything that was said in it, though. Of course that doesn't mean that whoever made it doesn't also have bigoted feelings towards the show, but I have no clue who made it and thus have no idea. I do think that there is a bit of an... overlap between the people who say "This is dumb shit that tries to appeal to kids" and "Why do the SJWs put women in my Star Trek?!" but being in one group doesn't automatically make you part of the other one.

That being said there are totally sexists who push for Discovery's failure, going to pretty much any news site, YouTube or the likes. My favorite recent comment was accusing the show of having to many "womenly emotions" (or something like that) wich I found very hilarious, a bit sad and very sexist.

If you want to talk about racism and bigotry in Star Trek, there are better forums than this one. From my own experiences over the last few weeks, some of the moderators here don't know how to handle the topic, and some are themselves alienated by Discovery and left politics. I have had a post mentioning Q'non censored because a moderator thought it'd be easier to edit my comments than address a situation I had with an alt-right forum member, as because I'm left-leaning I'm less likely to kick up a fuss. I don't blame them, as it is easier to brush institutionalised bigotry under the rug instead of trying to solve it, and I've been guilty of that type of moderation before on other forums I've moderated. But when your franchise is considered the poster child of "everything that is wrong with SJWs" by alt-right and conservative "fans", you should probably get a policy in place.

The outright hatred for Discovery is unwarranted. Could Season 1 have been better? Yes. Was it far and away worse than any other Trek’s first season? Absolutely not.

The argument against DISCO that I find most entertaining is the whole “I’m only mad because cbs SAYS it’s prime! If they just came out and SAID it wasn’t prime then I’d be fine with it” crowd.
Like you seriously need a studio to tell you what to think about a fictional TV show? And if so, how do you make it through day to day life?
