Pushing Daisies Slated For The Ax?

A friend of mine sent me a link this morning to http://savedaisies.com I haven't really heard anything about the show possibly be cancelled, but I didn't see anything here either. If you're a fan of the show, I urge you to help join in the campaign to help keep it on the air. Better to start earlier before any official cancellation notice goes out than to wait until it's actually announced.

There's no hope in my inexpert opinion. I'm trying to console myself that the series set will be inexpensive.

It doesn't look good, unfortunately. I love that show. :(

I signed the petition. There are 30,731 signatures so far.

Online petitions don't mean much. Get some more eyeballs and up the ratings and you really have something.

I haven't watched s2 yet, but have been recording it on the DVR. Guess I'll hold off on catching up on the eps. No point in trying to catch up if they're just going to pull the plug.

Tim Kring is angling to get Fuller back on Heroes. If PD has to go, at least Heroes can benefit. That show really lost something after S1 when Fuller left. Basically they need a producer who can handle characterization well and handle drama convincingly and coherently; the current crew are botching characters left and right, and are blowing serious chances for big drama. It's too bad because they really have all the right elements, they just don't seem to know what to do with them.

One thing I've seen in the comments about Heroes is that people are actually missing dramatic elements that I think the writers intend us to grasp, without which the characters start to unravel; they just aren't hammering things home like you need to do in TV. PD never had any problems with coherent, well-paced, well-put-together storytelling or disciplined characterization that never goes off the rails.

Some shows can survive by their fingernails but honestly, I don't think PD is one of them. The demographics are lousy, and ABC isn't totally desperate. Now if PD were on NBC, maybe...

More websites have picked up the rumor with the lastest being, TV by the numbers.

Fuller has been told 13th episode will be the series finale.

Will look for more info to put in tommorow TV ratings thread.

Maybe this will free him up to do a Star Trek series. ;)

It's really no surprise, though... PD is too good a show to remain on TV for long.

I love Pushing Daisies, so of course it's going to be cancelled.

If it's not dark, sinister and twisted, people don't watch. All anyone wants anymore is shocking and evil. It really pisses me off.

I can't say that I'm going to be sad to see it go. I'm sorry for the fans who liked the show, trust me I'm there with you. I tried to watch it, but it just didn't click with me.

I LOVE Pushing Daisies and will be very sad to see it go. It was charming, clever and a little bit twisted. Most of all, I love Emerson Cod and his wonderful, deadpan delivery.

But...if it's in any way different, or offbeat---and I like it? Well, there's the kiss of death right there.

DAMN IT.

Join the club. It's like everything is geared toward demented twelve year olds.

Which in this instance (and probably some others) is very much their loss, IMHO.

Pushing Daisies is fresh, innovative, unusual and fun. To each their own, of course, but it's kinda dismal that those things don't seem to be what rates.

Yeah, can't say I'm surprised either. It was definitely too good to last. At least ABC has given it a chance and not buried it on a dead night before pulling it after two weeks of "bad ratings." I do wish the network would give Fuller enough notice to actually write an ending for the series, but I doubt this will happen.

Heros never caught my attention. Too much like the X-Men for my tastes to be very original. For almost every character in the show, there's a coresponding X-Man or X-Woman with a similar or better power. It just never interested me.

Whereas with Pushing Daisies, I was hooked from the get go. I think the writer's strike really hurt this show, as it nipped it before it could really get going in the first season. I sincerely hope they give it a chance as it is one of the better shows out there that doesn't involve a scorcard to keep track of what's happening to who this week.

I'm not convinced things are hopeless; If Jerico could get a brief stay of execution, Daisies can as well.

Maybe President Obama can tell everyone to watch Pushing Daisies because of how great he is in one of his speeches. Would that help?
