Punisher S2 dropping same day as Discovery S2

Quite honestly, you're completely wrong.
I think you are wrong, but it depends on the show. I'm not a fan of Iron fist, Luke Cage, or Agents of Shield. But Punisher and Daredevil are better written than Discovery. Hopefully that changes with Season 2, but I doubt it.

I've been a Marvel fan since I was a kid, and I think the Netflix Marvel shows (at least some of them like Daredevil and Punisher) are some of the best Superhero action drama series I've seen.

I've been a marvel fan since i was a kid too and I think the netflix shows are garbage for the most part. The exception being the seasons 1 and 3 of daredevil and mostly because of Vincent D'onofrio. The others have been a 100% struggle to watch and arent worth my time for a re-watch

I can respect you opinion then, though I disagree.

I think both Daredevil and Jessica Jones are way more emotionally honest than DIS.

Like, DIS is just dark and gore-y without reason. On the Marvel-shows, there is at least a thematic reason for it. Quite honestly, the Marvel shows are objectively the better shows. I just do like spaceships more.
I think Daredevil is, though that is way more gory that what DSC did. I think Jessica Jones is emotionally manipulative and dour for no good reason. I guess I feel about Jessica Jones the way some feel about Michael Burnham. I'm not invested, it feels like she is tortured because the writers want to torture her and it all feels incredibly nihilistic and pointless.

YMMV and probably does.

I loved Marvel comics when I was a kid. I have seen most of the movies but I have lost interest and haven’t seen the last few. As to Marvel TV shows, I haven’t been interested enough to watch any of them.

Yeah, I think there is an over-abundance in "dudes-with-capes" in the recent years. Especially since I'm always more interested in high-concept SF-stuff (like, how would the whole world actually change if someone invented an arc-reactor like Tony Stark?), instead of punching the badguy in the face.

Now granted, sometimes a bit old super-powered punching is absolutely exciting to watch. But overall, I clearly prefer more classic SF, with ray-guns 'n' robots and stuff. And that's still pretty rare. Netflix' new Lost in Space and Discovery have massive writing problems compared to other high-profile shows. But they just tickle my sweet spot perfectly, so I'll definitely continue to watch them.

As somebody who grew up on comics, I'm loving the Golden Age of Comic-Book Movies and TV Shows. If somebody had told Young Greg that someday Doctor Strange and Aquaman would be movie stars, and that the likes of Cloak & Dagger or The Scarlet Witch would get their own TV series, I would have never believed it. I remember the old days, when we had get by with Lou Ferrigno in a fright wig and those gawdawful Captain American tv-movies.

Which doesn't mean I can't squeeze DISCO into my schedule as well . :)

Will have no impact on Discovery whatsoever.
And I enjoy comics, & the MCU movies, & the first seasons of Daredevil & Jessica Jones.

I'm actually pretty sure that this Punisher thing will have such a negative impact on DSC that CBSAA will literally stop streaming Episode 1 of season 2 about 4 1/2 mins after it drops, and will never mention the existence of the series again.

That's exactly what I'm expecting.

I think the real competition would be Orville vs Discovery since both have new episodes on Thursdays. It would be interesting to see the difference in social media volumes between the two.

Oh, God. Well, I'm actually glad The Orville will be on the same night. I'll be able to watch "Brother" without seeing the chorus chime in right away. They'll be occupied elsewhere watching something they actually enjoy, instead of something they don't and won't.

Hahaha!

Not sure where the OP lives, but in SC (USofA) Discovery is on Thursday 17th and Punisher drops on Netflix Friday the 18th. No conflict.

It's a bit more interesting to speculate on why Discovery is premiering the same night as a new episode of Orville over on FOX. Are they trying to see what their true viewing numbers are? Seeing if they can dent Orville's ratings? Dick measuring who's got the bigger audience? Interesting.... ?
