I just found this out, maybe it was known by others before, but I don't see a thread on it. I wonder if this will cut into some of Discovery's streaming viewership and curtail CBS's subscriptions. I know two different genres: one is Marvelesque crime drama, the other is sci-fi fantasy, but I'm a fan of both.

Oh my goodness-don't care.

Since many bingewatch shows now anyway, I would be surprised if the release date of the first episode will impact one over the other. It's not like I didn't not watch Star Trek on UPN and then switch Sci-Fi channel for SG-1.

Same principle here.

I'm glad I don't watch Punisher.

But, even if I did, this is 2019. I can watch anything whenever I want. I could watch one first and another later. If this were 1989, it would be more of a problem. I didn't have a VCR yet and watching two TVs at once isn't very effective.

I guess the subscription issue will only affect those in the U.S., since Discovery and Punisher are both on Netflix outside the U.S.

It's an on-demand show, people can watch it any time they want. So it really doesn't matter.

Also Discovery is released weekly remember, not all at once. People will just binge Punisher and move on and watch DSC weekly.
Pretty much this. Not sure what the issue is.

Are you a Marvel fan?
Not really.

What have you seen?
I've seen all the films. They're fun little time-passers, but I don't think they're nearly as good as people make them out to be, save for maybe the first Favreau film.

I tried watching both Daredevil and Jones, but couldn't get past the third or fourth episode of either. They just take themselves way too seriously for me to take them seriously.

Anyone know if the one episode a week release for Discovery is just in the U.S., or international?

I've been a Marvel fan since I was a kid, and I think the Netflix Marvel shows (at least some of them like Daredevil and Punisher) are some of the best Superhero action drama series I've seen.

Jessica Jones is not enjoyable at all for me. People talk about how dark and dour Discovery is but Jessica Jones was just depressing. I didn't get past the first episode and my skin crawled by the end. Just unsettling.

Daredevil I enjoy more, but it definitely not all fun and games. Again, not light and fun fair, and completely different tone from the films.

I think both Daredevil and Jessica Jones are way more emotionally honest than DIS.

Like, DIS is just dark and gore-y without reason. On the Marvel-shows, there is at least a thematic reason for it. Quite honestly, the Marvel shows are objectively the better shows. I just do like spaceships more.

There's more than one hour in any given week. So I tend to think that people who want to watch both, will.

And I'd rather watch Discovery than the Marvel crap that is constantly churned out.
