Pulaski Fans

I much preferred Pulaski - she reminded me a little of my Mum. Crusher was a boring character with an annoying son.

Pulaski definitely. Far more interesting character than Crusher.

I would've been very interested to see what sort of storylines Pulaski would've had if she'd stayed longer.

I really disliked Pulaski, I found her very irritating. And it rather annoyed me the way in which she treated Data.

When they let her actually do something, McFadden/Crusher could be an interesting character.

But Muldaur was "on" from the moment she appeared on screen in her first episode. I wonder if the writers gave that a little extra because they knew they were trying to shoehorn in a new character?

Definitely Pulaski. She's such a strong, 3-dimensional character. I like the Data storyline because it shows Pulaski's flaws, but also that she learns from her misconceptions and is willing to change. Crusher is just bland in comparison.

that could be . . .

I always felt that Pulaski was more of a scientist than Crusher . . . they seemed to give Muldaur more 'treknobabble' than to McFadden
even though it's boring at times it helped make Pulaski seem to actually be good at her job, whereas Crusher mostly said "you're going to be all right" *pats shoulder*

I think the thing is that while Pulaski per se isn't a particularly likeable character compared to Cardboard Crusher anything's an improvement.

I liked 'her' better 23 years earlier, when 'she' was a 'he'; and was an original character, and not something ripped from an earlier (and better) version to try and shore up falling ratings at the time.

Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy = Good original character (back in the day - reletive to TNG Season 2).

Dr. Katherine Pulaski = Pale imitation/blatent ripoff.

I found Pulaski to be much more cardboard. Crusher was a bit boring because she was a nice character without a lot of conflict, but to me Pulaski was just a wooden grump who snapped at everyone. But I didn't equate that to personality. Couldn't have been happier to see her go personally.

I liked Pulaski because she did spawn the universal horror known as Wesley Crusher...

:)

Apologies to Gates McFadden and Wil Wheaton.

... I actively hated Pulaski. In my mind I always imagine she suffered an off-screen fate so brutal and horrific that they never spoke of it on screen.
Perhaps in a homage to LA LAW, Pulaski plunges down a turbo-lift shaft to her death?

:)

^ didn't someone suggest a few years ago that LA LAW was a holodeck program she ran with the safeties off?
