Public Access TV and Fan Films

Have any fan film groups worked with any public access TV institutions? What have those experiences been like? Why might one work with such institutions, and why might one not work with them? Just curious. Thanks!

The reason I'm asking is that my wife and I recently joined a local public-access TV group, and I'm wondering if anyone has had luck in producing something with such a group.

For about three years (2000-2003) I would occasionally run Star Trek: Encarta, Star Trek Encarta II, and Star Trek Encarta III on a couple cable access networks. But I never worked directly with the station, I just gave them my tape and they aired it. Overall it was a pleasant experience, not sure how much the cable access game has changed these days...

We haven't discussed airing our episodes/vignettes on public access (which I think they still have), but have plans on showing them for free at a theater. New Voyages did that, I think.

Picard, did the cable company say anything to you about content?

It all falls into the fair use/parody act. So no, they didn't say anything. Every video I submitted I had to sign off on and say that I was the only one legally responsible for it's airing, if they got complaints I was responsible etc.

I would love to do this as well, but I think most (if not all) of the public access stations in LA have gone out of business. I wonder if I could submit to ones out of market?
