prostitution in the Trek Universe?

The US inherited black slavery from the British, who didn't even "create" black slavery either. If you had an ounce of sense in your America-hating head you would know that.

Rojixus, I'm not talking about who invented slavery - as I have abundantly made clear in my last post.

I'm talking about the slavery on the future USA territory.
Or, for you, your 'past generations' appeared out of thin air the second USA appeared as a political unit?

PS - name calling?
Yes - I can see the strength of your arguments. You should worry about your own 'sense'.

That's as if I said that Germany did not invent genocide and that your German-hating head should know this every time you mention the Shoa.
Wanna know the difference between a jingoist and a real patriot? The former think his nation is superior to other nations whereas the latter wants the country he incidentally lives in to learn from its mistakes and become a better place.

You cannot think that your country is perfect and the greatest in the world as well as that your country is seriously screwed up and needs to work on a lot of things unless you are good at doublethink.

First off, I am adept at doublethink. Secondly, your first post said "think his nation is superior to other nations" I truly believe that. While America is not in anyway perfect, it is still far superior to most other countries IMHO.

You're right, I forgot that example. In instances like that, reparations would be justified. It's not, however, justified when the original people who were wronged died centuries ago.

Should Americans still feel pride about their history? Beating the Brits? Ratifying the Bill of Rights? Freeing the slaves? Defeating Hitler?

None of these events occurred in this century. And with the exception of WWII no one is around who was actually there participating in these events.

You can be proud of your country's history(when it's justified), but not on an individual level.

For example, I served in the U.S. Navy, but I don't have any right to be PERSONALLY proud of the navy's victory at Midway.
Yet if you served in the right unit you would wear the unit citations earned at Midway as my uniform had the honors earned by the 37th Tank Battalion. Everybody in the Regiment was encouraged to be proud of our unit's history.

Ok, folks, please get back on topic. At least, prior forages away from the topic had some relation to the thread topic but what's being discussed now really doesn't.

Never thought I'd hear those words in a Star Trek forum! A Babylon 5 forum perhaps, An A Song of Ice and Fire forum most definitely, but a Star Trek forum? These are indeed interesting times.
