Better. More of the authors posted regularly (and more of the posters were active authors; there used to be a lot more Trek novels, novellas, and short stories coming out), as well as the editors.

Way, too late. I've always been a trek novel fan since the 90s, but have really been getting back into it over the last year.

Yeah, it's nice that they hang out here. Occasionally you'll see others pop up. I've seen Rick Sternbach, one of the production illustrators, pop up now and again.
I joined late last year and missed all the fun myself. Sometimes I'll see an old thread when I'm looking for something and I'll see someone like Marco Palmieri or Margaret Clark used to post here, but when you look at their profile you'll see they haven't been around in years.
Now as far as the books go I've only ever seen the authors nowadays, mostly Christopher Bennett, Greg Cox, David Mack, James Swallow and Dayton Ward mostly (those are the ones I see most often lately). And yeah, they're all good ones.
The others are good too though

Up until this thread, I had never encountered this usage of "props."
But they certainly deserve kudos. Even if one in particular (and one for whom I have the utmost respect) reminds me of a Tellarite at times. (Hey, how come we don't have any Tellarite or Andorian emoticons?)

The dictionary says it's only been around since the early '90s, so at least most of your life. Apparently it's short for "proper respect/recognition."
I can't quite remember if she called out this place specifically but Beyer mentioned she still lurks on forums, though she doesn't have the time to get sucked into participating.
IIRC, it's a direct descendant of "propers" as a single word, as in Aretha Franklin wanting us to "give [her her] propers when [she] get
Just to back this up, Weird Al Yankovic used "props" in the song "All About The Pentiums" from the Running With Scissors album from 1999, so there's that...

I agree with Garrovick though, it's nice to see their perspectives, esp. since their sort of Trek insiders. They certainly know more about some of the inner workings then any of us do.

I used to work for the reservations call center of a big national hotel chain that had everything from downscale to high class hotels. I made a reservation for none other than Sir Elton John. Unfortunately, 1. He goes by a pseudonym when making hotel reservations and 2. I spoke to his manager's assistant. Oh well, such is the high life. :P
