Hello all,

This had been discussed previously in a Props thread, so I apologize if this is a rehash for some but I have been trying to find a coffee carafe of the TOS variety seen in Corbomite Manuever shown below.

I do not know who the manufacturer was. but I believe the maker's mark was discovered on a coffee carafe at one point, and the information was posted either here (which I have not been able to find), or on the defunct Phase II forums. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated- thanks in advance! :)

It appears to be something of the "Danish Modern" design aesthetic which was quite in vogue at the time, and which has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, especially with the popularity of Mad Men.

I just did a search online but I couldn't find anything on this particular item.

Now I want one!

What you are looking for is the coffee carafe from the "Jet 60" series designed by Nils Nisbel produced by "GABIS Stainless" in Sweden.

The set as seen in Star Trek includes the carafe, an accompanying creamer, and an accompanying sugar bowl. (It looks like the Jet 60 set included a tea carafe that's a bit smaller than the coffee carafe.

Note that the coffee carafe includes a tension-fit lid--seldom found when these carafes come up on eBay. Also note that a martini pitcher is identical to the coffee carafe. It includes a stirrer and a small lip guard-thing thing inside to keep from pouring out the ice. It also doesn't have the lid.

Good luck on your hunt. These items are hard to find nowadays--and pricey.

I suppose everybody with one to sell knows exactly what he has. That's the situation with the radio used on Gilligan's Island. It was a Packard Bell AR-851 AM radio, with a fake FM antenna glued on for show. And if you want one, or even something similar, you'll pay plenty.

The exact model in photogenic condition? You might get Dawn Wells to make a personal appearance for less.

Hello and thank you for this information! Having done some looking around already with the information you provided me, I will totally agree they are indeed some pricey pieces. I had figured that locating and obtaining these pieces for my prop collection may take some time, but I'll have some fun doing it. I also wanted to say how much I miss the Phase II forums and all the research you, and the other folks put into your props, it is a loss to the community, but I understand tough situations sometimes require tough decisions and actions. Thank you again for your help on this, and your insight into the TOS props Greg, it's much appreciated!

I believe Roger Romage ("trekclassic@hotmail.com") sells these along with many other cool and hard to find TOS used tableware and other props.
Oh yes, thank you for that too. I'll contact him and see what he has to say. I already have the salt shakers from "The Man Trap" in mint condition, and I've been looking out other culinary/dining/drinking items from TOS for awhile now, so I'm sure this will help. Danke!

Hi Kor, thank you for your response- you and I had much the same idea and although I'm happy when any fan gets into collecting props I think I would have felt bad having you run into the same wall I did. I was using "Danish modern", "Scandinavian", "Swedish" and a host of other terms to search for the self same coffee carafe and nothing ever popped up that remotely looks like it on eBay. Weird to say the least. At least now we can go hunting and be able to find the right item.

"The Radio" from Gilligan's Island, another great old iconic TV prop. Yes, this is a several hundred dollar collector's item even in fair condition nowadays. Love the Conelrad station indicators on the 'dial'. Thanks for posting, Zap.

The tableware link above prompted me to mention the china from Star Trek VI, which was made by Pfaltzgraff and based on their "Hampton" line. I have a complete setting for 4, augmented by some Hampton pieces (salad plates and soup bowls). Even found some gold plate chargers to match those used in the film.

Hi! FYI I just acquired a Gabis creamer and sugar bowel and the creamer seems smaller than what I see in the TOS screen caps. It measures 3.5" high 2" wide at base. I found reference (on Etsy) to dimensions of 4.75" high and 2.5" wide so I wonder if there was a size change? Obsessing over this...

Hi! I'm New here. I found this discussion while doing research on a complete Gabis Jet Collection set you guys are discussing here. I really love it but am willing to part with it. It would be an amazing addition to any mid mod decor. It has been displayed in a cabinet at my family home since the early 60's. The set has everything including the tension fit lid and tray. If anyone is interested in purchase I will consider offers. I am not sure how to post pictures of the set but can send them to you if you want. Thanks.

pete,

Please refer to the board rules, located here:

https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/rules-a-short-guide-to-posting-on-the-bbs.282269/#post-11662568

Which include this:

"No sales. While I'll wink at something in your signature line, we frown on posting strictly to sell your stuff. Sorry, but we don't want to take responsibility if the transaction goes south."

Thanks
