Proof that Star Trek and anime/manga go great together..

I'm sure we might see some snipets....like the guy who did that KICKASS anime of Dr. Who with the 3rd Doctor. Daleks in anime form looked slick.

OF COURSE Daleks in anime form look slick. That's because when you open up the Salt Shaker Armor they're in...

(Dramatic Pause...)

...DALEKS GOT TENTACLES!!!

~Bashes a cinder block over your head~

With that out of the way, I'll show you what I mean.

Imagine seeing animated Star Trek drawn in that style. :bolian:

Actually, Star Trek is already in a Manga. There are 3 volumes of short stories (I forget the publisher) that are from the TOS era and at least 1 from the TNG era. The stories are quite good, as is the artwork. It is not the type of artwork displayed above (not a slight, just showing that there are different types of art types within the manga/anime world). Check Amazon for the manga.

Castellan, has that anime been released yet and where can I buy a copy?

Looks like tinker-bell Trek. I'll take American designs, thanks. Or at least designs that don't look like Bratz dolls. Bratz dolls are the hight of anti-sexiness.

I have the first volume of that. The art is 90% crap and the stories are 90% crap, imo. There are very few japanese artists whose work I find appealing.

It's all a repetition of the same theme... small figures with massive cutesy eyes, and no mouth, except for when they're shouting, when the mouthes are also ridiculously big, and strange shapes and colors of hair, and young girls with breasts the size of basketballs.

I'm sorry if I might be derailing slightly, but I just can't read Clarksonesque hyperbole like this and not respond. Lest the uninformed take this statement seriously, I suggest taking a look at a few different styles within anime, as no, it is not all the same. Hajime Kanzaka's output differs significantly from Masamune Shirow's, which didders from Rumiko Takahashi's, which differs from Kosuke Fujishima's, or Masaki Kajishima's. Heck, Card Captor Sakura looks very little like xxxHolic, which bears scant resemblance to Chobits, and they were all done by the same group of people, CLAMP.

However, if a series were to go with a western style, I would have to immediately nominate Gargoyles, which was absolutely gorgeous.

Okay,,,

You're right...

The way those Daleks move reminds me of the Tachikomas from Ghost In The Shell...

And they got REAL Cybermen....not those Cybrus wannabes. :bolian:

Doubt it. I think just one guy made that. I'd love to see the entire thing, though I'm sure the BBC would send some thugs to break his shins.

BBC outta hire that guy.

Zardoz speaks.

Zardoz likes the idea of an anime Trek, but he does not like this generic style of anime. Perhaps something more like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

McCarver is down with Zardoz.

Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G. did an amazing job on GitS:SAC. It's not your typical bubblegum anime series; it's well-written and well-animated enough to stand up with a lot of live-action dramas with a minimum of fluff (yeah, the Tachikomas are a bit genki-genki, but that's 5% of the show and it's a nice palate-cleanser).

I'm Herkimer Jitty, and I approve this message.

I agree with you, Zardoz, and would also like to see a Star Trek anime done by I.G. or any other anime studio like I.G., with animation similar to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex..:techman::cool::)

Either that, or a movie/TV show in the style of Batman: Gotham Knight.
