Proof! Benny Russell is the author of ALL Star Trek

I dunno, Roddenberry was all right. I liked the TMP novelization pretty well, which in many ways had more of a this-really-is-the-future-sorta feel than any genuine Trek product, grantedly to the point that it almost felt like a retcon or reimagination of the man's own previous work.

Fella had one basic story in him, however: humanity confronts superhumanity, but in the end everyone realizes humanity is basically better because it has heart.

Benjamin is Hebrew for "the right hand". Rustle means "to shake things". Benny Rustle is obvious code for "masturbation" which is the male act of creation.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

I always thought that Star Trek was invented by a white guy who was a middling, mediocre screenplay writer who was a nobody and an outsider in the business before finding the formula called Star Trek.
You leave out the part where he wrote episodes of Boots and Saddles, Highway Patrol, Have Gun Will Travel, and Dragnet. He also previously produced a series called The Lieutenant. It's not like he did nothing before Star Trek.

Genre Roddenberry created Star Trek in our universe, true. But Benny Russell created Star Trek in the Star Trek universe. Only there is no single Star Trek universe but an infinitude which loops in and out and over and under itself, plus the evil universe where Spock has cool facial hair and Kira makes movies with Belladonna...

See why my avatar has hippie daisies spilling from his blown mind?

I always thought your avatar meant you were nuts!

Interesting idea. Too bad the end of What You Leave Behind didn't show an old Benny Russell being awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Hugos in 1990s America.

Red Rum!

I have always liked your avatar. That is the late William Frawley, who played Fred Mertz on "I love Lucy". Died the year Star Trek went on the air.

Desilu, which was owned by Lucille Ball produced TOS.
