Prometheus-Did anyone else like it?

Because if you need several paragraphs to explain it, then the movie is very complicated and trying to fit all that complexity into two hours or so is very difficult, and the film suffers.

Why does setting the bar so low it can't help but jump over it make it a better movie though?

That's only one element of the film, there's a whole raft of things Prometheus does better than AVP2. Pretty much everything in the whole movie except having a plot so simple you couldn't possibly fail to understand it.

To say nothing of setting the bar incredibly low and STILL missing it. I'm ashamed to say this is on record on being my 1000th film seen in a theater.

ALIEN second finest film I've yet seen
ALIENS thirteenth finest film I've seen
AVP2 googol times googol...........maybe.

Now, John LeCarre movies.......THOSE are confusing. Even when you bring 100 percent thought to them...

I didn't even have access to a cinema for 15 years, not until last year when they finally built about a 5 minute walk away. Before that the nearest one was 20 miles away, so I never went.

Our new cinema is great though, they serve you beer and food in your seat, and you sit on sofas.

For the past 12 years (or so) I've had the Cineworld Unlimited Card, so I've seen a lot of films at cinema, a lot I wouldn't have seen if I had to pay to see them. Wish they had that sort of service, they used to have recliners in one screen with a bar next to the screen but they got rid of that a long time ago.

£15 a month, which at the local cinema's is about the same as seeing 2 films a month. Any film, any showing. You have to pay £1.50 extra per 3D film or £4.50 for IMAX, and I think a similar thing for the live ballet and plays. But they also give 10% off food and drink with the card now, too. It's also usable with Orange Wednesday, so it's not a bad deal.

^I have one too, though I think I get to the flicks far less than Bob :)

Me and my friends work on the assumption that so long as we go see two films a month over the course of the year it's worthwhile. Prometheus was film 11 for me (I think) which means I need another film in June to remain on schedule (though sometimes it might be 3 or 4 films one month and occasionally none the next).

Usually I exceed 24 films over the year, but not by much, I think it was 27 in 2011.

This year I have been to see The Avengers, The Cabin in the Woods & Prometheus. 3 films in 3 months is unprecedented for me

I'll be going to see The Dark Knight Rises & Total Recall as well, so this will probably be my busiest year at the cinema ever.

I went to the cinema 88 times last year, I saw someone bragging that they'd managed 120 times on twitter. This is my new goal .

With my second viewing of Prometheus I'm up to 32 so far this year. I want to get another viewing of Ill Manors in and I wouldn't mind checking out Rock of Ages and The Pact this week, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Jaws and Fast Girls next week.

My friends are talking about getting to Sheffield to see Dark Knight Rises on IMAX, which I wouldn't mind doing.

Did a second viewing of Prometheus change your mind?

Suspect the only film I'll definitely end up seeing twice is Skyfall ;)

Yeah, there's a remastered print having a wide re-release as of Friday.

I had more fun cos I was sat there taking the piss with my friend, then after we walked out he mentioned some bits he thought were stupid and I ended up ranting about just how rubbish it was. So probably not.

I saw Avengers 4 times, Cabin in the woods 3 times, Hunger Games twice.

The only real movie theatre on Nantucket is currently playing Jaws. Not going to waste $12 on Jaws.

Still better than wasting $12 on Promethus.
