programs suddenly stealing focus and not switching

While running programs like firefox, itunes and something else, let's say word, I'll try switching to word from firefox from word and I'll have to click on it three or more times to get it to open back up (while active on the taskbar below on windows). When I click on it once, it'll flash orange (they call it 'stealing focus').

This never happened before and I don't like it. I don't remember changing anything except installing a trial version of something called Advanced System Optimizer from Systweak.

I'm running Vista Home Ultimate ed. w/sp1
plenty o' RAM & HD space, plenty 'o GHzage

Does the Advanced System Optimizer have any settings related to the stealing focus?
Some tweak apps do. Usually a check box that says "do not allow programs to steal focus".
