Prince of Persia '08

I don't really care about Achievements :) Hell I'm not even on XBox Live, as I am on dial-up internet. I'm usually a decade behind the times on technology :p

You appreciated an end boss that was just more platforming? You appreciated a satisfying thematic end to the story and character arcs being negated by 10 minutes of extraneous repetitive gameplay that forced you to undo everything you had done in the game up to then?

I saw it as a very off-beat homage to Shadow of the Colossus, thematically and in terms of gameplay.

Gee, I'm glad I bailed on the game before that point.

I liked it. the prince is all about emotions and less about the greater good.

I just defeated the second major boss. Still having fun! So, once you get enough seeds to unlock the four powers... is there any reason at all to collect them beyond that? I don't care about achievements.

Well that just cut my game time in half then :D Of course it will be a shame to miss the beautiful scenery when it's green and living... I now have all four powers, half of the third area and all of the fourth area to complete.

You know, I don't think I would have gotten so bored with Prince of Persia if you didn't have to collect those damned orbs.

"Congratulations, you just beat the level. But before you can move onto the next level you must backtrack the same level multiple times collecting orbs that weren't there before. Have fun"

I ended up collecting most of the light seeds anyway, just because the scenery is so beautiful. This was one of the more relaxing games I've played for awhile. It's just gorgeous to look at, and the music is peaceful after you clean an area.

I didn't really consider it backtracking since it looked completely different; going through the corrupted world and then the healed world is like two different levels. Also you only need like half of the orbs to get all four powers, so it's not like you have to go out of your way for them.

It may get a graphical overhaul, but the level design doesn't change. Prince of Persia is pretty much a puzzle game -- once you know the sequence of moves to get passed an obstacle you can easily do it again. Being asked to repeat every single level in a puzzle game is simply ridiculous. It's bad game design.

There isn't even any new challenges. You just repeat the same moves you did the first time through the game while poking into every nook and cranny trying to find orbs that should have been there the first time.

Well, you really aren't asked to repeat every single level in the game twice.

It is different though, since when corrupted there's obstacles in the way (the black crap on the walls/floors and the moving black blobs on the walls). And you can teleport between the healing grounds as well.

OK, I finished the game! The ending "battle" was annoying and stupid. The fight with the King was cool but then it's just this one protracted running fest from a horrible POV with bad coloring/lighting so you can't tell what's going on and if you're off by a single second you die and start over. WTF. Also, that was a pretty F'ed up ending story-wise. Not very smart of the Prince to do that... kinda renders the entire story moot doesn't it? Still, I thought it was a very good game, very fun to play. Only occasionally annoying.

That's what I bailed on the game after about 7 hours. The whole game felt like a repetition of about five minutes of gameplay.
