[Too Much Fun]

Yeah, Picard's constant irritation with Wesley running gag was one of the early bright spots of the show. Even in the first episode it's really funny how he is infuriated by a "a child" being on "his bridge". Ironic considering Wes would eventually become a full-fledged Starfleet officer who was actually useful on the bridge.

I wasn't really surprised because one of the news stories about the episode on the board said that Stewie with the cast of TNG was the B plot with Meg trying to convert Brian as the A Plot.

Also, Stewie did - in a way - get an answer to the way things were on the set. I read that they were always acting goofy like this.

the TNG aspect deserved the A Plot. I heard Seth MacFarlane wants to do TWOK in a similar fashion as Blue Harvest, so let's keep hoping for more and better Family Guy Trek.

The TNG storyline could of had its owe episode but the ending bit cracks me up the most. There were some good jokes in the episode like the jackass 2 bit with Peter, and TNG cast acting like tourist I liked but I wished it was the entire episode especially with the hype, who know perhaps next year they might have entire episode with the TNG cast coming on for another round.

The ending (zoom out through the universe) was so similar to the TNG intro, I thought for sure that they were gonna have some sort of voice over, and was kinda disappointed when they didn't

((shrug)) I don't enjoy blasphemy (the Jesus hitting on a woman scene) or being mocked for my faith. I am disappointed that, after having stopped watching the show because of the frequent blasphemous jokes, I was suckered back in by the TNG cast's appearance and then treated to such blasphemy and mockery. That pissed me off a tad. As an American, I have the right to say so.

they are not mocking you for your faith, but they are mocking elements of the faith itself, which has grown ridiculous. There is a difference

Brian did more than that, Tuln. How do you go from mocking elements of the faith to saying it's all stupid? And his argument to Meg was weak. Why not point out how idiotic the crowd was acting?

Actually I thought we saw more of the cast in the ep then the movies but maybe that was the joke for Mcfarlane.

This episode REALLY could've used MUCH more TNG and alot less religious bashing. I mean come on, Patrick Stewart pretty much monopolized the TNG parts... I wanted to hear more from the others as well!

I am a religious person (an elder in my church and everything - yes, I am also a religion geek ), but although I wasn't really offended by the anti-religion proselytizing, it just...well, how to put this?...wasn't funny. At all.

I mean, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett have some anti-religion stuff in their books, but when they do it, it's usually funny, and sometimes it's hilarious. The Meg plot was just...sad. I wanted to smack Brian and give Meg a hug.

The only funny parts were the TNG parts, which lasted, I don't know, 4 minutes or something. What a waste.

That's just it, really. Satire is suppose to be thought provoking and to point out the hypocrisy and mistakes of the powerful. Jon Stewart and Charlie Brooker do this very well IMHO and the Simpsons at their best are the past masters of this art form.
FG is not a satirical show, it's targets are too easy and it's jokes on politics and religion are, to be perfectly frank, lame. It should stick to random sketches and off the cuff humor with a levering of decent music and songs. (Seth has a great singing voice IMO).
It may not be great but it CAN be funny and that's all we want of it.

^ Very nicely put, Thor. I suppose the Meg plot was supposed to be "thought-provoking." Brian's big speech wasn't even a tiny little bit funny, and I am sure it wasn't supposed to be, but surely it was supposed to be something. So I am forced to conclude that it was supposed to, you know, provoke thought.

If so, it didn't work out that way. What FG does best is fast-paced joke after joke after joke, usually involving pop-culture references, and when it does that, it's pretty damn funny. But this time, I think it was trying to have a point, alas. If it was just trying to be funny...well, something went wrong, that's all.
