President Bacco's Quotes

Jeff

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
Ive become a fan of the Bacco character and thought I would share some of my favorite quotes of hers:

To start this off: "The one universal constant: the Tzenkethi are jerks."

Any other suggestions

I've always enjoyed this exchange I wrote for her and Admiral Leonard James Akaar in Star Trek Destiny, Book III: Lost Souls

“How do you do it?”

“Madam President?”

“You’ve been awake the past two days, just like the rest of us,” Bacco said. She nodded at Piñiero. “But Esperanza and I look like we’ve been chasing a fart through a bag of nails, and you look like you just stepped out of a replicator. What gives?”

Akaar shrugged. “Good genes?”

“You’re not endearing yourself to me, Leonard.”

“My apologies, Madam President.”

I loved Bacco vs. Bacco in Watching the Clock. One of my favorite exchanges:

[Ducane said,] "Madams President, if you'll both stand together, I'll have you reintegrated. With Both sets of memories intact."
...
"Damn," the younger Bacco said, moving alongside her suited counterpart. "With two of me, maybe I'd finally have enough time to get some real work done."

"You kidding?" her double replied. "Now that I see me from the outside, I understand why Esperanza gets so sick of my yammering. We'd drive each other crazy."

"Good point. I'd be positively beside myself."

The uptime Bacco winced and turned to Ducane. "I've changed my mind. Can we let him kill her after all?"

Something from "Paths of Disharmony" about an interplanetary pissing match. I don't have the book here right now but I remember I laughed out loud.

She has become one of my favorite TrekLit characters. I can't remember any of her quotes at the moment but I love the two mentioned above. There have been some good zings thrown at Esperanza, those are always good.

One I remember is just after she takes office--and takes Espy off guard, going, "Spock? What's he doing on Romulus?"

Espy is spooked, worried that she just blew Spock's cover--and Bacco reveales she was joking. She already knows.

I'm actually using her in my current fanfic tale (see: the link in my sig)--she's a darn fun character to write for!

Needless to say, I've got a few nice "Baccoisms" of my own.

It took me a minute to figure out that you were referring to Esperanza Piñiero when you called her "Espy."

^ It's what Bacco calls Piñiero in Articles after she calls her Auntie Nan.

I've always pictured President Bacco as Anne Haney. Her spunk as the Bajoran arbitrator in the DS9 episode "Dax" just seems perfect for Bacco. :techman:

A few exchanges that amused me to the point of writing them down:

"How long until I stand for reelection?"
"Two years, three months, and nine days, Madam President."
"Is there any way to rig it so I lose next time?"
"I'll try, but I regret to inform you that your approval ratings are excellent."
"Do what you can."

(Zero Sum Game, David Mack)

"For the next few hours I don't wish to be disturbed by anything less than the arrival of a Borg armada in Earth orbit."
"If you'd like, I could contact the Borg directly and ask that they postpone any imminent actions so as not to disturb your evening," Decan said deadpan.
(Full Circle, Kirsten Beyer)

^I love the first one. Aside from the Bacco wit, it demonstrates what George Washington said when he handed the ropes to John Adams: "I am fairly out, and you are fairly in. See which one of us is happiest...."

Still...Nan, if you don't want to win a seond term...you could just decline to seek one....

See, the problem with that plan is, then you have trust someone else to do it right.

^Which she'd have to do anyway, if she were going to rig the vote so she'd lose.

Wrong "it." I was referring to the act of presidenting, not to the act of rigging an election. Surely you understand the impulse to hold office yourself because you're convinced no one else would get it right? ;)
