Prequel comics and novel to Star Trek: Picard announced

If the prior track record is any indication, then it isn't very likely that these will be declared canon.

I'm not suprised they're having comics and a book I was expecting they'd have the backstory for the events in the Picard series.

They said one of the Short Treks will be covering the big event, and Patrick Stewart also said he was going to film a flashback where he's in uniform again (though it might be for the short trek I mentioned)

So they are going to cover the backstory on film, these comics/novels will just expand on it.

I forgot to post here tv guide has an article about the Picard series I bought today.

Does this mean the show will not air until at least February? I was hoping January.

January was never going to happen. In marketing “early 2020” actually means “anytime before June”

I am not going to read any Picard books and comic books. But I look forward to the Short Treks Picard prequel mini episode. That will be canon.

The name of Saru's homeworld in Desperate Hours was contradicted in Season 2, and the nature of the predator was contradicted.

Even the focused Saru novel from June 2018, which did use the new names from Season 2 (Ba'ul and Kaminar) was contradicted.

Season 2 Spoilers
The Ba'ul in the book were described as being a planetary based predator, the Kelpiens didn't provide sacrifices to a floating obelisk, they were hunted and herded on the planet like animals.

In marketing, you do what works. They launched Disco during NFL and used a broadcast premiere to help lure in viewers. January is their last shot. Plus they originally said late 2019 so why should we assume spring? Disco is late 2020 now as well. I wonder if they will do a split season.
