My mom went to see the Urologist today to discuss some CAT scans he had taken a few weeks back. He told her that her left kidney is in bad shape, that it's essentially a water sack, because infection has caused inflammation of the left kidney and the ureter leading to the bladder from that kidney.

This Monday he is going to have her at their surgery center and he's going to use more advanced machinery to examine the exact problem with the left kidney (the right kidney has a little infection and inflammation, but nowhere near the level of the left kidney), and he wants to find out what's causing this level of inflammation.

She's scared because she's already been through hell and back (the Sarcoidosis), and now this. She's in pain from the inflammation, and even after 15 days of antibiotics, it's only put a dent in the infection (aside from this, she's had dozens of UTIs over the past couple of years). What I want is the best you can send her way. I don't care what you believe as long as it's positive. She needs all the help she can get. I just want her to come through this healthy and full of life.

I really hope her condition improves soon. I don't know what the rest of the stuff is, but I had a UTI once in my life and I never want to go through that hell again. It's like someone taking a knife to you down there. Lots of sympathy, and best wishes to your mother.

I'm sorry to hear that. My mom had some kind of kidney infection or inflammation, and it took a while for her to heal. I pray for your mom to get better. She's very lucky to have you by her side.

Thanks, everyone. Her doctor called her this morning and wants her to come in tomorrow for some blood work, then an EKG. Then Monday she gets the X-ray and the dye put in to see what her kidneys are actually doing.
