Powerless - New DC Universe based Sitcom

SDCC Poster by Neal Adams reveal Ron Funches is on the show!

Kate Micucci, who was in the leaked trailer, is missing, though. I hope that doesn't mean she's been cut from the show.

Yeah, I always start getting nervous when issues serious enough to drive the creator away start popping up this early.

That's assuming that it was the creator's choice to leave. Sometimes that's just a polite way of saying someone was fired or ousted for not doing a good job or behaving unprofessionally or something. Of course I have no way of knowing whether that's the case here, but just in general, "creative differences" can be a euphemism for all sorts of things.

And it's a quite polite one. It's like saying "you have your vision, we have our vision. But it's ok! We're cool? We wish you good luck!". So it seems it's all about artistic integrity. :)

It could be something as simple as him not giving him what they expected. That is why many series start out as generic crap for the first six episdoes, then once the Network or studio's eye is off of them, begin telling the story they planned to begin with.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but CBR has an article about a slight change - the company for whom the main characters work is now a well know DC Universe company.

I bet ten bucks the conversation went something like this...

NBC Executive
: What's a "Racoon" anyway?
Showrunners: Retcon, sir, it's...
NBC Executive: Whatever, I don't like it, make it "Batman Insurance". People love Batman!

Aw, I liked RetCon Insurance. If it's just a subsidiary, why couldn't it just keep that name?!

Because apparently it's not even an insurance company anymore -- it's a Wayne company that develops protective technologies for non-powered people (which I imagine is how Bruce covers up his Bat-gadget R&D). Which is too bad, because the idea of an insurance company in a world of superpowered battles is a fun one. But maybe they figured it was too much like the Damage Control sitcom Marvel's developing.

^ If theirs comes out first I don't know why they'd be worried about that. Like others, I don't find the new premise as fun or compelling as the original one. I guess the proof is in the pudding so we'll see (or the proof of the pudding is in the eating for the pedants....).

io9 has an article now questioning whether this renaming makes Bruce Wayne a con artist and whether the whole setup is now really a protection racket. They might have a point, unless Bruce Wayne isn't Batman in the show's reality.

Wow, I can't believe I missed the news about the setting change.
We've got a new trailer that reflects the change in set up.
After seeing the trailer, I can see where this might be a bit more fun than an insurance company. I do look forward to seeing what other kinds of crazy gadgets they come up with.
Overall, I liked the trailer and it looks like the show has a lot of potential.
