Potential Canonical Sticking Point

Thank you for reminding me not to argue SW canon 'cause I just don't care that much about it! :lol:

As far as I'm concerned, continuity shall go Enterprise-->Star Trek XI--->Star Trek-->Star Trek I-VI --> TNG/DS9/Voyager --> ST:Nemesis

The only Star Trek I really care about is post-Nemesis... this next movie will be kinda like a history lesson.

Hi, my first post on TrekBBS, so please be gentle with me. :)

As I understand it, the new movie is meant to bridge the gap between Trek fans and the general cinema-going public. To re-launch the Trek franchise, in effect.

After the appaling reviews and eventual cancellation of Enterprse (I still can't come to call it Star Trek - Enterprise, the words stick in my mouth) Paramount needed a way to re-invigorate its 'cash cow'. I think, as far as it can, it will stick to canon, but............?

To comment on an earier post about Picard not knowing about time travel, I suspect that Starfleet Command and the Federation Council supressed Kirk's escapades in regard to that matter. The Temporal Prime Directive didn't surface until Voyager, as far as I recollect.

So any 'time travel' aspects in the new film would have to be assessed in light of the original 'canon' events.

:)

I truly feel that we fans have always creatively (but in a sensible manner) explained the many canon contradictions that have occurred over the past 42 years -- and that is a good thing.

Yeah, but it's actually a lot easier not to care. :)
It may be easier not to care, but what's the fun in that?

That's like asking what's the fun in finally getting out of a dentist's chair.
