Posting from new Blackberry

Figure out your mobile internet plan before you go nuts, Trekker - I once screwed up and blew £12 in one evening. Lesson very much learned, I'm now on a £10 1Gb/month plan which is more than enough for my needs.

Fun little phone got it because it was time to upgrade and thought I needed to get with it and get a smartphone as texting on a numerical keypad is like sticking your balls in a metal drawer.

I may be lacking those particular anatomical bits but I certainly agree with the sentiment. I'm one of those anal retentive losers who types texts out in complete sentences, which was a nightmare on numerical keypads. Also my previous two phones didn't have apostrophes, which drove the grammar Nazi in me futher around the bend. I got my Blackberry "free" when I switched from pay-as-you-go to a contract a few months ago. It's the basic model but I enjoy it, though I rarely use it for the 'net as my eyesight's crap and I hate having to scroll all over the page when it's magnified. But, man, do I love the QWERTY keyboard! And it has an apostrophe! ;)

I text very little, but same for me here. I type in complete sentences. This tends to end badly.

Yeah, I try and type as clearly as possible in full sentences. I mean I'll likely use shortcuts/internet slang, etc. But the problem with typing on my old phone is pressing, say, "7" three times to get a "C" but not wait too long between presses should the cursor move to the next letter. And then I get mixed up on which button was delete/backspace which would sometimes result in me exiting out of the texting field. It took me the better part of 5 minutes once to text my buddy "Merry Christmas" a few weeks ago while he was in the hospital because of the damn thing.

No I've got a full QWERTY keyboard and I just need to figure out the best way to hit the key without also hitting the adjacent ones.

I can sympathize. I have large hands, and the little QWERTY keyboard buttons are difficult for me to hit. My brother, who has that type of phone, can text very fast, and his hands are bigger than mine. I don't know how he does it, unless it's just long time practice. He can type out a full sentence (if he wanted to, but he textspeaks instead) in just a couple of seconds. It took me a full minute to type out "Thanks".

Trekker, like others have said, you'd be best to contact T-Mobile and ask exactly what's up, but here's my understanding of Data Packages.

Most companies that I've looked into require you to buy an "unlimited" data package when buying a smart phone. That means you can surf as much as you want, and you're covered. My package, through Verizon for my EnV touch is the basic data plan: $10 per month for 3mb (I believe, don't quote me) or web usage. I have never used even half of it, and I surf semi-regularly for quick google checks or to check facebook.

Since the BB is a Smartphone designed for web usage, unlike my EnV which is considered a Web Enabled phone, I have a feeling you have the full/unlimited data plan, which means any notifications you get will be covered. Also, make sure that these notifications you are getting are not just text messages. Facebook mobile is set up to send you notifications via text, as well as through the Facebook application if your phone has one. You can just turn the text message notifications off.

Blackberries use "push" technology, your internet is basically always on, and you will get facebook, email, txt, and im msgs you sign up for all the time..which is awesome. You should have a flat data plan so you will not pay any extra. Should have cost u an extra $20 or so.
