Posters who are awesome that you'd like to meet

There are many, MANY people here that I'd love to meet - especially my fellow mods. I've been lucky enough to have met a few people in Chicago a few years ago - Alphaman, TV's Frank, T'pol's Ass, and the Terrible Trio (jkladis, JKTim, and Top41) ;)

Yes we do, so why haven't you come here yet? :p

Well, my sister is going to school in Montreal next year - we could meet halfway? :D

Winnipeg, Canada to Montreal, Canada is 1,828 kilometers
Halifax, Canada to Montreal, Canada 791 kilometers

You Martitimers have an interesting definition of "halfway". :p

LOL!!! Anyone know what it would be time-wise? ONT must have better highways than the Maritimes surely...

You're in luck, I'm a French TEACHER :p

Well it's good you're not a geography teacher thinking Montreal is halfway between Winnipeg and Halifax. :p

Sure, if you don't mind driving on a narrow two-lane road (occassionally with a third passing lane for 2 kilometre stretches) with a 500-foot cliff going up on one side and another 500-foot cliff on the other side leading down to some unnamed lake in the middle of nowhere, all the while being surrounded by semi-truckers who haven't slept in 24 hours and who are doing 120 kph in the twilight hours when all the deer are jumping across the road.

But yeah, the roads themselves are perfect.

;)

It's not as long as you might think.

The Greyhound will get you from Winnipeg to Montreal in 1d 13 h if you leave in the morning, and 1d 11 h if you leave at night.

By way of comparison, I have taken the Greyhound from Regina to Toronto (1d 17h). And one Christmas, I took the Greyhound from Toronto to Edmonton (2d 2h 30m)--and back.

But I guess you'd have to grow up on the prairies, like me, to think that a day and a half is "not as long as you might think". ;)

A day and a half on the road isn't long? Holy crap!

Well--not as long as you might think.

I actually find long bus trips rather peaceful. Restful, even. You've got nothing to do but sit there, relax, and entertain yourself as best you can.

I'd meet any and all of you once.

Second time round, I'd more selective though. :p

Having said said the following get to sit at the High Table of Awesomeness where the really good wine is served at my mythical transglobalBBS meet, as a reward for mentioning me upthread(!): Daneel, An Officer, digits, CorporalClegg, Ashu, Trekker4747, K'ehleyr, trampledamage, Gep Malakai, flamingliberal, Kommander, BDF, Alidar Jarok, auntiehill, TheSeeker.
I made the list without mentioning you? I am honored, sir!

^ Only spammers get the love. Do you really wanna be a spammer? :p

8 years... lord! You should be a Fleet Admiral by now... :p
Post count isn't everything. I've determined there are four ways to get noticed and remembered here:

1: High post count
2: Being full of win on a legendarily epic scale (which is how I got three mentions while only being a Fleet Captain after three years.)
3: Being full of fail on a legendarily epic scale (e.g.: MadBaggins. I think he belongs in category #2, but most would say his actions are fail.)
4: Be attractive, female, and post pictures.

I'm in on a variant of option 4 - I don't post pictures of me, I post pictures of Karl Urban. It's raised my profile quite nicely ;)

1: Well, relatively speaking it's neither here nor there for me.

2: I still have a lot to learn here. Maybe starting a trend that someone could pick up on and pass on later? [You wish! - someone]

3: Full of fail? I've had a few.

4: I used to have an avatar of a girl with a pink wig that did all that, and I think it confused a lot of men here. :guffaw: It also confused a few women. :(

^ Yes, everyone remembers your Lazy Town avatars. Those make you either a #2 or a #3... we'll have to put it to a vote to determine which.

ZR shoutout alert! I've always wanted to visit Canada one day too. :)

Hey, if you're ever in the area, give me a shout... and that goes for the rest of you too, if any are so inclined! :)

I'd like to extend the same offer to anyone who'd like to visit the GOOD part of Canada! ;)

Blasphemer!

As for a GTA meet-up, I still think that could be fun. Maybe those of us in the area could plan something, ideally before summer is over. :)

Coming up with this system automatically puts you into category 2. This is awesome. And true.

A Grand Theft Auto meet-up? Trekkies stealing cars and performing stunts? I'll buy that for a dollar!

The cool thing about my business is that I travel all over the US and I try to meet as many folks as I can, which has turned out to be a lot of folks. I think the Canadians and Europeans give a silent prayer of thanks that I haven't traveled over seas yet for work ;) For those of you I have met, the list is too long, but I enjoyed it. For those of you I missed, I'm sorry and I'll catch you the next time I terrorize your town.

As for who I want to me? With very few exceptions, If I've interacted with you on this board as either a friend or someone with whom I disagree with then I'm always up for a meet up.

As for where Im at today...the beaches in the Pan Handle of Florida are pretty this time of year
