Post Your Dreams Thread

had a lucid dream, haven't done that in awhile, but this time was accidental. I'll say semi-lucid

passing through a place of ruins, but what was once a beautiful city. the old homes now falling to the elements. For some reason it looked like pictures I've seen of Amalfi, a city my I have wanted to see, clinging to cliffs near the ocean, but with industrial wreckage dotting the weeds and on the side of the broken roadway. I was on a conveyance like a "mouse coaster" car, but moving along without rails, gliding smoothly. I did not control its destination, nor did I want to. Someone offered to guide me, someone near by, but another voice from within the car with me said we did not need a guide, we were on the dream barge. I noted that was quite literal. the dream was starting to dissolve, but I rode along as long as i could, nothing but grasslands and the cliffs and the knowledge the sea was near. I woke long enough to commit it to memory then returned to sleep

I have not had a true nightmare in so many years I have lost count. I actually forgot what they were like. I don't know if it was random, due to the death of my mother or lack of sleep.

I was in room holding a hand held computer game. It had small LCD screen and a large speaker protected by foam. There were other people in the room playing similar games. For some reason mine was a baby or toddler simulator, a kind of AI thing, I thought. It was not interesting. Suddenly the simulation started speaking to me, saying terrible things and I became very afraid. I don't remember now what they were. I tried to turn the device off but it would not stop speaking. The foam covering the speaker began to liquefy into a disgusting green ooze that spilled out of the device. I was sure it was toxic. I felt the same ooze filling my mouth, drowning me as I stood unable to open my mouth to any of the others to get help, and they ignored me, staring at their own games.

I woke up with a mouth full of saliva. I looked at the clock. It was 5:22. I could not get back to sleep. In retrospect it seems very silly, but at the time it took me awhile to verify reality.

I dreamed that I was in an army defending our city against an invading army. There was a lot of shooting and bombs, etc, but we were losing because the enemy had so many more soldiers than this itty bitty town had. I think someone pulled out a secret weapon to save us, but I don't remember what it was. I wish it was dinosaurs with rocket launchers, but this was just a boring dream.

A bizarre and very brief dream last night. I'm in a log cabin full of workers on a break and I have a bob haircut like the singer from Swing Out Sister and I'm dancing around the room kicking out my legs like Freddie And The Dreamers in the song You Were Made For Me and people are looking at me like I'm a bit odd. Then Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars walks in and gives someone a newspaper and I approach him to say hello but he walks off quickly rather than talk to me. Then I woke up. It was a lucid dream and only seemed to last a few seconds.

My son mentioned the next Jurassic Park trailer had dropped, so last night I dreamed that a T Rex was attacking people at an inside shopping mall. We were running around avoiding falling chunks of mall and keeping an eye out for the dinosaur which was mostly stomping around. Well, some people were helping themselves to merchandise in the midst of the chaos. Neiman Marcus in particular was being emptied out. Rather exciting dream for a change.

I was dreaming that my husband was driving around trying to find an ATM and meet up with me. It was night time outside and I watched him drive around for a bit because it took him awhile to find it and me. Just as I was starting to climb into the car with him, I suddenly woke up to a feeling that I was being hugged tightly. I tolerated it for a few minutes but it made me feel claustrophobic having my arms pinned so I sort of wiggled and I was released immediately. I rolled over and looked at the clock and it was a little past 3am. Then I cried a little because I miss him so much.

Brief hug.

I had a dream that I was at a small gathering in a record store, where a famous attractive female musician was talking about the songwriting process. Alas, I didn't get to have any personal interaction with her.

I usually don't remember dreaming at all and if I do after awakening its only fragments, but last night I had a really WTF one that stuck in detail and had a lot of weird segues.

We moved into a new house that was mostly empty of furniture and someone (maybe the previous resident) said to always leave the bathtubs full of water much like they do in model homes or timeshare units with Jacuzzis. The house shifted between a single level ranch in a suburban area to a multi-story one in a remote wooded area several times. In the rural version, there was "something" living in the woods behind the house that might have been a bigfoot or a monster and I heard some howls or roars. Next thing I remember the new neighbor couple was introducing themselves and I'll skip what I remembered that was said since it involved some, how shall I say, more adult-oriented conversation. Next thing I know I'm in a cornfield talking with the jerk ex-husband of a friend of my mother's who was riding a tractor (he was never a farmer in real-life, just a jerk) and telling me about the "monster" in the woods. Someone else I can't remember then repeated the warning to never empty the bathtubs and I woke up.

Since it was still early in the morning, I went back to sleep hoping the dream would continue so I could figure out what the hell that was about, but alas once one's gone there is never any continuation or sequel. Pretty sure there's a whole cottage industry of Freudites that could analyze it and tell me it had some deep, cosmic meaning, but to me I just chalk it up to random firings in my brain trying to compartmentalize unrelated events the previous day or so.

Last night I dreamed that there was some type of disaster and my family was hurriedly packing to leave our home, not sure if or when we could return. Funny, it was set at our old house in Illinois and the kids were grade school age (my youngest is 40 now) and my husband was alive. We were trying to decide what to pack and of course, it ended with me trying to decide which books to take. Hmm, take old books that I love or new books that I don't know if I'll like? I just received Benedict Jacka's new (and last) Alex Verus book, so that was an easy pick.

Since my previous dream, I'm actually starting to remember them more, though it could be I'm just paying more attention now. Last night's however wasn't as complete as the other; but short & fragmented.

I remember I was walking through my house and I came across another cat that wasn't mine and wondered how it got in there. It was mostly normal except for its jaws which were elongated in an almost primal Cro-Magnon way and had small shark-like teeth. Proto-kitty seemed friendly and I heard it purring, yet I had a slight fear of it due to those teeth which I thought could chew off a finger or two with little effort. Then I woke up and had to use the bathroom.

I discovered that one of my real cats had been sleeping against me before I woke up, which was unusual for him as he normally is at the bottom of the bed, but the girl cat had apparently taken his spot in the middle of the night. No matter where he lays, his habit is usually to try to wake one of us up in the middle of the night or early morning for attention and can sometimes result in light nibbles on one's fingers. I think my mind somehow subconsciously knew he was there when I was asleep and incorporated those elements into that dream.

Some nice dreams recently. Star Trek ship models and a huge refit paper model at a store. Vegeta wondering if a video game got him down right. Fun stuff.

I dreamed that I was getting dressed to go someplace important, but I couldn't find 2 shoes that matched. The closet was like the one in my childhood home.

And the one half pair I found was a bright yellow sneaker with black giraffe type splotches. Could not find the other one. Someone probably burned it and who could blame them?

it seems like any giraffe sneaker should logically be a high-top

My dream last night wasn't really that weird, but it made me think about how dreams work.
So I'm in bed, and this girl who was staying with my mom & I that just met that day came in my room, said that she was bored, and laid down on my bed next to me. Now, I have a small twin bed, so in order to lay next to me length wise, she was pressed right up against me. Now, there wasn't anything overtly sexual about the way she did it, she was dressed in PJs, just a t-shirt & lounge pants with cartoon characters on them, and was just playing on her phone, so it's not like she came in in her underwear and started dry humping me, but it still seemed very personal for someone who I had just met a few hours earlier. And this is the kind of situation where my social anxiety kicks in, so she's laying there calmly with phone, while I'm on the verge of a complete panic attack. After a minute or two I finally calmed down, but then I wasn't sure where to put my right hand since she was pressed up against that side, I started to put it behind her, but then I decided to take my chances, and put my arm around her shoulder. I had just put my arm down, when I woke up, so I have no idea how she would have responded.
The thing that got me with the dream though, is the fact that I have no idea where the image of this girl came from, from what I could remember of her when I woke up, she did not seem familiar. This got me wondering where people like her in our dreams come from. Could our brain make up a whole person from scratch, or was she someone I saw in passing or interacted with briefly that I consciously forgot about? She had a very clear face, body, and voice, so I think that would mean I would have to have gotten fairly good look at her, and heard her speak.
She didn't immediately jump out as someone who helped me while I was shopping, or one of the horseback riders I've talked to during my bike rides.
Maybe she was someone I passed while we were walking the dogs, or maybe some I walked by at the grocery store? Or maybe one of the girls I've seen out horseback riding, but didn't interact with personally, while I was out on my bike rides?

If AIs can just generate random people, I'm sure the human brain can too.

With me, I think it's more common that the people I interact with in my dreams are not based on anyone I know IRL. (In those I actually remember when I wake up, anyway.)

I don't remember all the details, but I was involved in some kind of car accident and needed to be arrested, but I was on some kind of game show and promised to turn myself in afterwards.
