I know what you mean. I never liked the taste of alcohol and in college people thought I was weird. The plus side to not getting drunk in college was all the girls at the various bars I drove my friends too (I was always the designated driver) flocked to me because I wasn't a leering drunk slobbering all over them.

Great films! I watched It's a Wonderful Life not long ago, and the tears came whether I liked it or not. :alienblush: Just finished watching The Bridges of Madison County today, which had the same affect - definitely a new seasonal favourite.

Scotty, I think it's a lot of different reasons... I'm addicted to daylight, the darkness of evening and artificial lighting does not look nor feel as good to me. On some level, I become a little sad that another day must end and can never be recaptured. I probably never grew out of a childish dislike of bedtime. If I could experience an endless day, without need for sleep, I would probably be right at home. :D

Well, dammit if this isn't an interesting thread. Ten more facts about me (this time I'll be lazy and I'll just repeat things I probably mentioned elsewhere on the board).

1. I was born by Caesarian section.
2. I went to a Catholic school and all my teachers in grade school there were nuns. Now I fear nothing.
3. When I speak in English, I have this inexplicable Italian-Scottish accent (actually, it's my regional accent seeping through).
4. I quoted Firefly, Doctor Who and the Dao De Jing in my PhD thesis (which was about the correlation function of galaxies in the large-scale structure of the universe).

Very interesting. I suggest moving to Alaska in the summer and the southern tip of Chile in the winter -- You'll never see the dark. ;)

For me, darkness by itself isn't bad, and cold by itself isn't bad. But put dark and cold together, and I'm depressed. Which is why winter is so tough for me.

1. I concur. I was in Alaska during the longest day of the year. Almost 24 hours straight of sunlight. It was crazy laying in bed and peeking out the window behind the black-out shades and seeing the sun shining bright at 2am.

2. I, too, love the sun. Most of my friends love the rain and say they're happiest when it's raining. I hate the rain and I hate overcast. It makes me depressed and edgy. I would love the sun being out when it's like 50-65 degrees (F).

3. I love cold weather over hot weather. I like snow, but I don't like what it does to the roads.

4. I have experienced -60 degree (F) winters.

5. I love Lord of the Rings and recently fallen in love with Lady Galadriel. My favorite movie out of the three is Return of the King because Renee Fleming sings in the soundtrack.

6. This is the third time I've posted a list of 10 facts, and probably will post more. Sorry if it's annoying. :D

7. I love my mom's potato salad and will not eat anyone else's.

8. During school, I have the same breakfast every day: scrambled eggs, hash browns, oatmeal and a glass of raspberry iced tea. Breakfast is usually the only meal I'll eat for the whole day, except a few snacks here and there.

9. I had a 'genius' level IQ when I was in first grade, but I have never again tested my IQ so I don't consider myself a genius. Even if I had a genius level IQ now, I wouldn't consider myself a 'genius.' Just for personal reasons. ;)

10. I love Harry Potter, but I like the books better than the movies. Even if Harry is a whiney little baby, Ron is clueless and Hermione is a prissy, crying little girl. However, I think the movies did a wonderful job in casting the characters, and I enjoy the subtle Harry/Hermione 'ship they throw at us every now and then, even if it doesn't exist in the books. Professor McGonagall is my favorite character :mallory:

1. I have lived in a castle for over six months

8. Some people call me Jos
9. I'm also the IT guy who fixes your computer for a few beers.
10. I don't get drunk as often as I'd hope

I have for some time been planning how to do precisely this!

For me, darkness by itself isn't bad, and cold by itself isn't bad. But put dark and cold together, and I'm depressed. Which is why winter is so tough for me.
Yep, feeling that. Only thing that seems to help is vigorous exercise.

I am fairly androgynous in both appearance and personality.

Bullshit! You're a womanly woman, and a veeery good-looking one I might add.
Your significant other is lucky!

QFT!!! :techman:

Oh, dear. Here I'd fancied myself as dashingly boyish. I'll have to do better. :shifty:
