Portal 2

I never had to cheat, but there were a few times where I had to take a few hours away from the game and things seemed much more clear when I returned. Think I stayed awake too late. :)

I'm getting kind of tired of first person shooters and this looks like a fun game and I kinda want it. I never played the first one, though.

You should definitely try to play Portal 1 beforehand to learn the backstory. Let's just say that GLaDOS doesn't give a balanced account of events and, just going by Portal 2, Chell comes across as a bit of a monster. Besides, Portal 1 is an amazing game.

I'm at the final level of Chapter Five and still no J.K. I think I'm over halfway through the game. Still lovin' it!

OK I'm mostly through Chapter Six and
while it's interesting to see the older version of Aperture Science and hear J.K., I much preferred Glados' lame insults and Wheatley's panicked enthusiasm. Plus, J.K. is just a canned speech he's not interacting with Chell.

^Technically nobody "interacts" with Chell exactly. Mostly they just talk at her a lot.

Speaking of Chell, did anyone else spot that little easter egg by the huge potato plant? Looks like the old theories from Portal 1 about her origins were correct after all! ;)

I dunno, the world just feels a lot more dead now.
We went from a moving changing world with Glados and Wheatley talking to us... to a dead empty world where nothing moves and you only hear canned pre-recorded lines from years and years ago.

Just finished both single player and co-op campaign. One of the best and funniest games out there. Some of those puzzles are mind bendingly hard. When I first heard of the gels, I thought it would make the game too confusing, but it was implemented very well. Wheatley, Glados, the guy that replaced Glados, and Cave Johnson are all hilarious.

Fantastic to hear that the DLC will be free. I had a feeling we'd get something, but I certainly didn't expect it to be free. That should settle any lingering "too short" claims rather nicely.

Wait until you get to Chapter 7. I promise.

OK I'm at the final boss fight. I manged to hurt it once but I couldn't do it again and the timer ran out. The walkthrough says you use the same bomb trick three times, but it didn't work again after the first time. What am I doing wrong?

It's not quite the same. Watch where he puts the shields. You have to aim the exit portal differently; for the second I think it has to be under him.

Also, was I right about Chapter 7 or what? ;)

Beat the game!

It was definitely a great game, but I felt like it was setting up some things that never happened. Cave Johnson said to plug him into a computer so he could live forever... so I was assuming that we would meet PC-Cave as the final boss but this never happens. I was also hoping that when you fall into the old complex you would find people still alive down there or in cryo. We open with a vast hotel complex suggesting there's thousands of other humans in storage, but we never meet another human.

Also, how the hell did Aperture Science create this abyssal labyrinthine complex all the way back in 1952???? And we're supposed to believe they invented the portal gun all the way back then? I think that's a bit much.

I thought I read there were several songs in this one, but I only got the end credits one, which was great, maybe as good as "Still Alive". The turret choir was making noises but I don't think it was words...

What I did really enjoy was the changing situation with Glados and Wheatley. I thought it was cool that Glados wasn't truly evil, it was just being plugged into the mainframe that turns you into that. I also thought it was hilarious that at the end you think she actually went through some character growth but she just deletes the Caroline part of her brain, LOL.

Oh and I *JUST* got the joke about shooting the moon. Cave said before they created the white gel out of ground up moon rock. At first I wondering, why the hell would the portal reach all the way to the moon like that, lol.

So now that Chell is finally free, might she team up with Gorden whathisname for Half Life 3 and help him out with her portal gun?

There's more to the story, you need to play the coop mode now.

It's easy to miss, but Cave Johnson bought a salt mine. The old Aperture Science is built in that mine. It's only stated in newspapers in the background. Yeah, and the old portal gun, from the picture, may look more like a giant Ghostbusters proton pack is hard to believe. But so are mantis men mutants.

and Gordon + Chell in Half Life 3 would be awesome.
