It wishes it were Whedon-esque. I don't mind Torchwood, since we're not going to get 26 episodes of Doctor Who every year, at least its something to watch (and bitch about) but it doesn't get anywhere near the heights of its parent show. I'm not sure its a "popular" scifi show, though, is it? I guess the ratings are good in the uk...

There's a common misconception among proper internet nerds like us that Torchwood isn't a success. In fact it's one of the BBC's biggest shows, if not the most successful drama after Doctor Who.
Believe it or not, it's a hit with the critics too (bafflingly so).
I stand corrected. You obviously know more about this one than I, so it's all you. Personally, I love Farscape, but if people want to turn their eyes away because of muppets, so be it. The series is done, so it's not like they're putting it in jeapordy.
I've lost interest in the slickly produced but simplistic Merlin, not a bad show and I like the cast, just not my bag.
Heroes has fallen off the deep end somewhat, but the third season is starting to get good, and remember the first season did not really get going until episode ten.
I really liked Farscape and with the muppets at least they attempted to make the aliens actually alien (but they had grating Aussie accents).

Never cared for either BSG, couldn't get into Heroes, wasn't interested in Smallville.
Smallville seems like the sub-Buffy crap it always was, even if the first season seemed half decent, and has gotten even more putrid since then and totally destroyed the story of Superman.
