Okay, so how do you feel about cannibalism?

Personally, I have no gut revulsion nor any moral objection to eating human flesh. I mean, meat is meat, right? That’s assuming, of course, that we’re not killing people expressly for the purpose of being eaten. (For example, the Uruguyan rugby team whose plane crashed in the Andes, and who survived by eating the frozen flesh of those who had perished in the crash.)

I’m also assuming that nobody participating in this poll is already a practicing cannibal. (That would tend to skew the results.)

So, under what circumstances would you tuck into a serving of “long pig”? Choose one option.

Only in an extreme situation (and it had to be a corpse, not a living human) where there was no chance of immediate rescue and my survivial was dependant on it. Its not like you are going to develop a taste for it and go onto become a cannibal is it?

This.

Although even then, I think it would be very difficult. I'd have to REALLY try as hard as I have ever tried in my life to think about something else...or I'd probably be sick.

I really voted this way mainly because I don't think people know what they are capable of unless they are put in such a life/death situation.

Depending on the climate and energy expenditure, a human can survive without food for up to two weeks. But even then damage will be done. Things such as liver and kidney damage and the breakdown of the body's natural metabolism leading to immune system troubles.

Maybe just a slice of Bacon.

If it was a absolute last-ditch survival situation and the person was already dead, sure.

Too bad this is an anonymous poll. Hey, I just thought of one good reason to be a mod!

Yeah if it was like the Andes football team story, I would eat it. Not sure if I could do it if by myself with a corpse though.. I think I might put it off so long I was too weak or religiously delirious to actually start sawing off a piece. If I was in a group it would be easier because there would be a kind of mutual permission thing going on.

I saw the movie, Alive recently and that situation immediately came to mind here. That sort of circumstance is the only situation where cannibalism would be considerable.

How about a nice Canadian ham?
