POLL: The 'After Earth' plot twist

What do you think the 'After Earth' plot twist will be?

What isn't a movie is that most of his movies are horrible.

If you mean "what isn't a myth," I'd tend to agree, but I think that's mainly due to his scriptwriting rather than his directing. After Earth is a movie where he wasn't the creator or head writer. He did a draft of it, but he didn't shape the story and didn't write the final credited draft (though he did have the option of altering dialogue during filming). So my hope is that this movie will have his strengths as a director without having his weaknesses as a writer. If we could have that, a Shyamalan who focuses on directing and entrusts the writing to other, more capable hands, then he could still have some good films in him.

It's a shame he set the bar so high simply by including an incredible twist in Sixth Sense (not even his first movie) and then had such a mediocre one at the end of The Village (though I liked the earlier twist involving the final creature from the forest) that people can only peg him as a certain type of story teller based on less than half of his output.

Well, almost. He did two consecutive movies with strong twist endings, The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. It was that repetition that created the myth that "all Shyamalan films have twist endings," even though you're quite correct that it's not really true.
While "The Happening" and "Signs" didn't really have twist endings, they had pretty pathetic revelations.
