Confession time!
We particularly encourage all staff members to participate in this poll since we have our suspicions about the reason for their type of lounge being labeled "The Briefing Room" :D

Both boxers and briefs have their pros and cons. For example:

boxers:
+ easy access, roomy, hiding everything
- risk of things slipping out through the legs, uncomfortable folds when wearing them under tight trousers

briefs:
+ support, proper fit under tight jeans
- chafing, showing off contents pretty plainly (which may also count as an advantage, depending on your age, gender, religion and general pov)

Since nowadays there are quite a few females who like to wear boxers, there are no gender-based restrictions. Everyone is free to vote and comment.
The poll is multiple choice, in case you like variety.

Disclaimer / caveat:

I'm aware that this is a highly sensitive topic (no pun intended) but I have confidence (well, ok, I strongly hope) that with this board's mature clientele (who am I kidding?) it should be possible to lead a matter-of-fact discussion like grown-ups and not like pubescent teenagers.

Please keep the discussion in a G to PG-13 range, respect different opinions (after all we have different anatomies and therefore different preferences) and kindly refrain from bragging.

What I like about briefs is the way everything.. tightens.. around the actual member they are encasing when stretched. You don't get this with boxers. I do think boxers are pretty cute, but they are lacking in this regard.

I've worn briefs since I was out of diapers. I like to have something fairly snug and secure holding in my assets.

Reminds me of the old joke (stop me if you've heard this one) about the rock musician who says to his tailor: "I keep telling you, you've got to make the pants tighter! I want them tight enough to show my sex."

The tailor replies, "Bubby, if they were any tighter, they'd show your religion."

LOL no, I hadn't heard that one yet. I'm German and jokes about Jews are not PC over here (still that's an excellent one, heehee).

As an athlet I, too, prefer briefs. There is less chafing when running. The wider boxers may be airy but they move too much when you do and that can get very painful after a while.
At work I wear long-legged skiing underwear in winter (and 2 pairs of woolen tights over them), as my profession requires me to spend all day outdoors which at temperatures of -25°C can get a little cool around the thighs.

Briefs, because of the fit. I tried boxers for a week and wasn't comfortable in them. Going commando is always risky because of zippers.

I'm saying it is hardly a jewish joke when a whole country is pretty much circumcised.

But okay sure, the joke references religion and then there is the "bubby".. which would seem to be eastern european jewish in origin and thereby excludes the muslims who also give it the chop.

I wear boxer briefs. You get the full support of a brief, but a little more leg room with the boxer part of it.

This is another one of those questions where my answer is "You're going to have to see for yourself." ;)

^^ That post is useless without pics.

Boxer briefs here, too, although I didn't know the name for them until J told me. Mostly black or dark blue.

I'll be brief... :rommie:

Just remembering what my Mom always told me as I was growing up:

"Always have a fresh pair of underwear on, with no holes, so if you are hurt and have to go to the hospital, you won't be embarrassed...."

She would have been horrified at the very notion of "commando"...

  :guffaw:

LOL we just found another planetary constant: my mom told me literally the same and she was told it by her mom.
(to which admonition the traditional reply in my family is: "and stay a good catholic, don't engage in intermarriage, don't get run over by a tricycle and don't fall into a letter box!" :D )

So far the briefs are leading and surprisingly unmentionables/bloomers appear to be more popular than boxers. Who'd have expected that?
(though I must say in favour of bloomers that they are indeed utterly comfortable. I only wear them for old-style square dance but I almost regret taking them off in the evening. Our great-grandmothers knew what they were doing. Bloomers are hell to iron, though, with all these ruffles and lace)
